Tried out the new dash cam. Collected 3 jay walkers, one near truck miss and motorway idiot at 70mph lane hopping within an hour!
I only popped out for petrol, the elusive Shell V power, end up with BP.

My son telephoned me early last Friday evening and asked me to take him to 'a hot date' in the next valley. The last time I drove over this particular mountain road was on blues and twos a good few years ago. I just knew it was going to be fun in the Scirocco. Here's the drive.

Steep climb out of the town and turn sharp right onto the mountain road which is 60 restricted. Climb steadily in 6th to a left hand hairpin, easily taken in 3rd. Accelerate hard, climbing steeper this time into 6th, slight kink in the road which I was able to straight line. Brake hard for right hand hairpin, 2nd gear. Steepest part of the climb and quite short, 4th gear, brake and 2nd gear for next left hand hairpin. Short blast into 3rd and then 2nd for sharp right hand bend. Climb again in 6th to crest and the whole of the flatter part of the mountain comes into view. With excellent forward visability and no other car in sight, slight bends were easily taken in 6th. After about a mile there is a small bridge in a dip on a gentle S bend. Take the car to the right of the road in 4th and flick her into the bend, power out into a sweeping right hand bend. Short straight into a sharp left hander (3rd gear) for the descent into the neighbouring valley. The road down demands the utmost respect having a dry stone wall on the left and a staggering drop to a river on the right, so the best of the drive was behind me.

Really enjoyed myself, even felt myself going neeh naah neeh naah. A seven mile drive and I didn't even see another car.

Pretty boring... I drove it and splashed dirt up the side thanks to the never ending rain we're getting during this drought.

Cleaned the R quickly on Friday ready for its trip to Brunters yesterday for a bit of this!

Passenger rides in a Radical SR3. 300bhp...weighs next to nothing, slicks and full aero pack! Bloody awesome. :D

But the day was really about Jane cashing in her Xmas pressie...

Lambo Gallardo LP570 first up.

Heading off out...gently.

Back in after 3 laps... 85/100 and "Piss Taker" comment noted by Instructor!!!

Image

Then....it was supposed to be a GTR but we were informed couple of weeks back that it might not be available so it got upgraded to.....

Ferrari 458 Italia! :D

Think she enjoyed it! :D 88/100 and "Good Driver" comment.

Well done on not using the damage waiver!!!

Just to say.....if anyone fancies doing a supercar experience thingy I thoroughly recommend 6th Gear Experience. They were top notch with everything really, from ordering the voucher to yesterday. Slot was pre arranged for 11.10am and both cars were done by 12.30 including demo / hot laps in a Focus RS. I would have had a go in the Ariel Atom too but the queue was a bit long so that'll have to get done another time. :)

Short'ish circuit but she got the chance to put her foot down on the 2 straights ! My R feels average now apparently

Oh yeah they did use half of the main runway with 2 coned chicanes to slow peeps down :)

I have an Aston Martin Vantage drive coming up this month, 20th I think. Really need to double check that. It was £63 after Quidco, how much was the above? Interesting to see for 2 motors.
