Seal tyres and regular can I mix?

Post by Roccouser »

Hi peeps. So I got a 1.4 160, curbed the tyre so needed a new one. Got to the garage today after a long period of searching as its Sunday and no one is open. Guy removes the tyre to realise its a seal tyre so tells me I need to pay £300 for one of those! I had no ideas I had sea tyres so only had £200 on me in cash. Long story short u got the standard tyre as it was all could afford the guy advised me that it's not a good ideas to mix and match. I am on a long trip to Birmingham tomorrow from London and am slightly worried. Would it make a huge difference if one tyre is standard?

Its not best practice to mix tyres on the same axle of a car but I wouldn't overly concern yourself. I'd say the guy selling the tyre was thinking more about the margin he would make on the self seal tyre.

agreed, probably best not to mix and match tyres on the same axle but its not likely to be the end of the world.
Sealing tyres are nowhere near that much BTW. I got them from blackcircles for £180 a corner.
It was only £30 a tyre more than normal mid-range tyres in that size anyway.
