Second hand deals
Hi all, What if any discount if any could i expect to get off a 2010/11 scirocco 2.0 tsi if I go in with cash (£19000) dealer or private. I simply haven't had time to go to garages yet due to work but looking to getting a Scirocco before the end of this month.

Try autotrader to narrow your search down?? Save you time before you go and view anything

Re: Second hand deals
The actual discount depends on so many factors such as whether you have a trade in or not, how much they stung the previous owner when they traded it in and how desperate they are to sell it.
One thing to get out of your head is that a dealer will give you a discount for cash, total opposite in fact, they make money on financial products such as GAP Insurance and Finance.

I would see how much discount you can get on a brand spanker before making any offers on 'nearly new'. Better chance of bigger discount, plus deposit contribution, plus a much better APR on new which can mean they often work out cheaper.

Re: Second hand deals
When I got mine the main dealers only seemed to have a little wiggle room, think I got £500 off the listed price but it all depends how desperate they are to sell.
I went to look at one car that was overpriced, think it was on for something like £24,500. I spoke to the salesman and said it was over budget (and overpriced) but I was interested. Basically he told me there was hardly any saving to be made (maybe a couple of hundred) until the car had been with them for 50 days. I left my phone number, and sure enough a few weeks later he called and said I could now have the car for £21,750.
As it happens I had already found a car elsewhere...
