Evening all
Thought I'd see if anyone could shed some light on an issue I had/am having.
A couple of weeks ago on a Monday morning after not using the car over the weekend, my 160 was running really dodgy - no power, spluttery performance and hesitance on part throttle at low revs.
On returning to the car after work it ran a lot better, but felt really sluggish at low revs - almost like there was only one charger.
The car has just come back from dealer with clean bill of health - despite showing up some fault codes relating to low boost warnings.
However, car doesn't seem to pull as hard as it did previously and given I've come from six months of faulty Polo GTI ownership, I'm keen to nip this is the bud quickly.
Any ideas on the problem/low boost issue?

Yes, thats about right. Its dependant on the ambient air temperature. The colder it is, the longer the Supercharger is in dumped mode. The Supercharger starts to work at 30'C coolant temperature. On a cold day at 5'C that can take 2 minutes to reach the coolant 30'C point. And there ain't any symptoms as describe in the first post as we all know.biffarino wrote:yeah so i've read, but only for a short time - like than a minute?
Would have been useful to know what they were. Cannot believe they've had fault codes relating to the fault and given it a clean bill of health - nuts!biffarino wrote:The car has just come back from dealer with clean bill of health - despite showing up some fault codes relating to low boost warnings.
The fact that its a little intermittant points to a component. ie. Boost Control Valve N75.
What is it like when idling when warm. Same as usual?

Re: Problem time
i can probably find out the code. they think i'm a fussy arsehole already, but after more than than year of troublesome brand new vws, i don't give a fuck.
the first time it ran dodgy, it felt like it was longer than two minutes - can't remember ambient temps.
warm idle seems fine, will check tomorrow though. cold idle seemed a bit high today as it happens.
