Small black spot on candy

Post by Garry74 »

Picked my car up a week ago and today is the first time i washed it. While washing it though i found a small black spot near the rear window. It is about 0.5mm across and perfectly round. I tried tar remover, but it did nothing.

Edit: must be a tar spot or similar, its on the surface. Have to try again tomorrow.

I'd get used to it. I always used to be on the tar remover /paint cleaner. It'll drive you crazy.

I honestly don't think it is tar. Tried again today and it won't budge. I've attached a photo, it is on the surface, as i can feel it with my thumb when i rub it over the spot.

If IRON-X doesn't work, try damping some white spirit on a rag and see that will deal with it by gently rubbing it.

Clay will shift it - as you say you can feel it. My preference is Bilt Hamber auto-clay soft as you can use water for the lube, and so it works out cheaper than most. For guides on how to use clay and any other car cleaning info I use detailing world.

Cheers. I've contacted the garage where i bought it. See what they say. If they won't do it, I'll get the clay.
