Hi guys sorry about the old bump. I own a mk5 r32 and got the same seats off the same seller, and am having the same problem with the airbag light.

Could you explain to me exactly how you got the light off mate?

Cheers

adbrad999 wrote:Got them from a place near me they are sold on t'internet as 'Recaro Airbag Resistors'. They have quite possibly the worst instructions ever and neither of the yellow plugs fit a scirocco. I just stuck the black cable into the socket in the car (under the seat) connecting them to the black and green passenger side and black and blue drivers side (I think the 3rd cable is earth (brown)). Then taped em up.

I think that the kits are on ebay for £35!!! (I managed to pay less going direct) I have since learnt that you could quite easily get a 4.7ohms 0.5 resistor for about £1 then bend it and stick both ends in like i did with the black cable... RIP OFF

Took it to a VW specialist this morning and they cleared the fault using VCDS and all sorted! Didn't charge me which was kind (free plug for The Lion Garage Leicester)

I finally have a set of Recaro 'R' seats that i am happy with...

Thanks for everyones help, much appreciated... Does anyone know how to remove the rear seats :?
Hi mate, have bought same seats from the same seller on eBay. There are three cables going into each airbag socket in my car, it's the same as the rocco, could you explain to me how you used the two legs on the resistor kit into the socket so satisfy the 3 cables?

Many many thanks

Do you have resistors? You need them to fool the ECU into thinking that you do have the the airbags in the seats. You also have to get the faults reset once you have fixed it.

Where did you get the resistors? I have vag com so no issues clearing the faults. There's 3 cables in each plug so how do you connect a resistor with only 2 legs to this?

Hi,

Ok here goes. I am assuming that if you bought the seats from the same seller as me then you have got German configured ones. This is hardly an issue at all but it means the seat belt warning cable is on the wrong side. These Recaro seats do not have seat airbags in. Anyway you will have 2 cables coming from the passenger seat and 1 cable coming from the drivers seat. In the car you will have 3 sockets (because your old seats will have probably had heating, seatbelt warning on both sides and also seat airbags). On both seats you only want to plug in the heating cable (the one with the largest plug on) and leave the smaller one on the passenger side unplugged (otherwise you will get the bing bing bing unless you have the seat belt plugged in)

The yellow plug on each side that you dont have a cable for is the airbag one and the one that will be throwing your faults! These are the plugs that you need to cheat. I got my resistors from a shop near me but i think that they sell online too (have an ebay shop too i think) type in Recaro airbag resistor into Google and you will find them. However if i were you and had a VCDS/VAGCOM then i would try a cheaper route first and try and buy a couple of 4.7ohms 0.5 resistors (I think that is the right resistance for the airbags). They are about 99p each on ebay (bear in mind you need 2 and the ones i bought were £35 each!).

Fold the resistors into a U shape and stick into the black and green holes in the yellow plug under each seat. Tape it up with insulation tape then reset your faults.

Let me know how you get on. Bit of a chore but well worth it in the end!

Yup have vcds so no issue clearing faults. I bought two Second hand seat airbags off eBay as a temporary fix for the mot but would like to solve it with the resistors.

Yup from a fella called Stefan? He must have a contact in recaro to be able to source all these new seats. Had bought some spare plugs from vw and tried unsuccessfully to get them off that way but hadn't a clue which connectors on the plug to insert the resistor plus I had bought 2.4 ohm resistors. Will buy some resistors and try that first.

Thanks buddy!
