Hi all,
I have recently had my Scirocco 170 back to the dealership with a issue relating to the gearbox. When accelerating, there is a tapping noise coming from the gearbox, particularly in 5/6 gears on the motorway between 1500-2500 rpm.
I suspected is was because there is some play in the gearbox linkages. This was confirmed by the dealer after 3 days of testing and putting nearly 100miles on my car! However, they say it is a 'characteristic of the car'. Of this, I am a little dubious. There is nothing I have found on this forum which would suggest this is the case.
Being an engineer by trade, this cannot be good for the gearbox and surely increases wear damage.
Has anyone else had this issue with the Roc 170 so that this problem warrants the title, 'characteristic of the car'?
Thanks,
Tom
