When we had the high winds a couple of weeks ago a large metal road sign that someone had very kindly placed right next to my car blew over and caught the front left hand side just behind the headlight.
I've managed to cover up the worst as a temp measure but I'm left with a scratch on the plastic bumper - any advice on how to sort this?
I was wondering about something like t-cut but won't this take off all the laquer too?

Ouch that is quite nasty.. I thin t-cut should do the trick but I'm not to sure about the laquer.. The t-cut will make it look much better then what it is right now. Maybe if you apply the least amount of t-cut as possible you should be safe?

Re: Scratch Advice
Hi mate, Was the metal sign put up by the council? If so did you contact them with a professional quote to fix it?? If the council fob you off then contact the Local Government Ombudsman; http://www.lgo.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If it was a private sign then I would think they would still be liable, quote and approach them, if they fob you off consider the small claims court.
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice. It must have been a private firm, not sure who they were - I'll keep an eye on who returns to collect the sign as it was still there the week before Xmas.char wrote:Hi mate, Was the metal sign put up by the council? The main thing is I just want to get it sorted - it's not too bad to be honest but just want it sorted. Tried the Meguiars Scratch X and does look a lot better than it was.

Re: Scratch Advice
Did you try ScratchAway or one of the companies that does these small repairs? Like the Dent removal guys, but for scratches.

Re: Scratch Advice
Look on the back of the sign, as they usually have the owners name/deatils sprayed on them.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!

Nothing on the back. That's the first place I looked but nothing, and the sign is still there too, nobody has collected it.Gilez wrote:Look on the back of the sign, as they usually have the owners name/deatils sprayed on them.

Contact the local authority, if they are carrying out works then a record of works will exist as all works have to be granted permission from the local authority

Re: Scratch Advice
Try going over it with a hard wax. This will cut it a bit and fill in fine scratches.
