Lubrication Service at VW

Post by 00HVB »

How much have you guys paid for a basic oil change, oil filter and visual check over?

Leicester VW have quoted me £139!

Thanks for the links Trix.

I'd do it myself except i'm a slave to the stamp! lol

Just out of interest the 3rd service is just an oil change service isn't it?

Just about to have 3rd service and its the most expensive so far (about £200). Dealer said there is other stuff included but can't remember what.

Brake Fluid gets changed at 3yrs and then subsequently every 2 years, so that would be the main difference between the 1st service and the 3rd assuming the mileage is less than 10k per year.

Is brake fluid change needed? Dealer didn't mention the brake fluid change. Isn't the Brake fluid change after four years?

Ahh funny the dealer didn't mention this. So looks like its gna set me back about £200 for an oil change and a brake fluid change. I feel robbed!

Nahh, and if you are smart about it, you can postpone the Aircon from the 2nd year service to the 3rd year service. Then, if the dealer is an Inchape agent, you ask for the brakes and aircon for £99 on their special offer in the third year service. That will save about £50 over the 2 year period.

Not convinced that the air con service is really needed< Never bothered on any of my cars and never had any issue with it. Main thing is to use it regularly to stop the seals drying out. I just leave mine on "Auto" all the time.

It isn't part of the service regime Bob, but for an extra £20 - £30 at the 3rd service, its better than paying £79 if its done as a stand alone job.

Just had my first 'long life' service with the car at 18 months old - invoice was £191, which once you take the VAT off, then the parts and oil off left £67 for the garage which I didn't feel was bad when you consider they also lent me a car - even if it was a 3 cylinder Polo - my God what an awful car!

You lucky guys, here in Norway my local VW dealer wants £1045 for 3 year/60000 km (EU control, brake fluid and spark plugs in addition to oil and filters). I luckily got an offer from an independent dealer and got the cost down to £611.....

Jeez - that is outrageous, I would feel done by if they wanted to charge £300 for a 3 year service, which is due next year! I know Norway is an expensive country but that kind of cost is plainly ridiculous! Almost cheaper to get on a ferry to Scotland and get it serviced there.

It's the same here in France!
I have'nt priced up servicing on my Roc yet.But the first service on my Touareg was 500€,that was for engine oil filter polen filter and that was it.Mind you oil was 18€ per litre and it takes 8 litres.
So no doubt I'll be having the Roc serviced in the UK.
You don't know how lucky you are in the UK.
