Used Prices unrealistic and nothing selling?

Post by AAddict »

Been keeping my eye on used 2.0 GT Tsi Rocco's, been half thinking of getting one for a few months. Now what I have noticed is that although used prices seem to remain strong, nothing seems to be selling at the prices. The same cars are still sitting at dealerships for months on end. It's almost like they are creating false used values, but I can't see what they would gain from that?

I just bought my car on Friday and paid £19500 for a 10 plate. It has most of the options on I wanted. I have been finding that as soon a good spec car apears on the market it goes on days. I have missed out on about 3 cars so far that have been sold hours before I went to have a look at them. On the other side of that my local dealer has had a white gt, agian very well spec'd, that started out at £31'000 in June and is now going for £27000. In my view that is a lot of money to pay for a second hand scirocco gt when they have two R's there for £30k and £34k.

I would say those prices are not excessive, if I were to p/x my 09 plate, (10k on the clock), I would not be letting it go for anything less than £15,500.

Seem to recall reading recently that new car sales have been so poor that there were more cars scrapped than new cars sold last month. Don't know when that last happened.
So of new cars aren't moving what does that do for 2nd hand car sales and prices ?

Bought my 2.0 tsi DSG for £16,500. Dec 59 plate with 16k on the clock. Not many extras apart from DSG but car is immaculate. Looked about for a while and found a few 58 plates with a few extra options for a grand or so than I paid. Even got dealer to throw in free servicing and a great finance deal to boot. I'd say prices are holding up well. The Roc is not a very common car where I am. Probably only pass one a day on my drive to work.

I had no end of chancers when i listed my GTI on Autotrader, really was a minefield, eventually sold it for cash in a power station car park, well dodgy! but cash is king! My 58 plate (09) viper 2.0Tsi GT 29K miles will be up for sale in January what would be a reasonable price to sell this to ensure i get some interest?

Does it have many extras mate, leather, sat nav etc? Probably looking at £14k'ish depending on condition.

Just DAB radio and Dynaudio upgrade, wondering if the Viper green will count for or against it? January is not the best month to try and sell a car either!!

Yes, I have the Dynaudio also, so that is a good one to have, as for Viper, well - it is very different. Most Roc's seem to be Candy's (like mine) so it could well appeal for somebody looking for something unique. I don't think you will have problems selling it, I would perhaps start at £14.5k and go from there, but no less than 13,750.

Just browsing the used Roc's on the VW website, and saw a Rising Blue 140 TDI at £11,995!

Admittedly fairly basic spec (cloth), but still on 21k miles for an 09 plate!

Quite shocked to be honest.

Hi, which dealer was that? I'm looking to buy a (preferably rising blue) Scirocco .

(Sorry if this is against forum rules, if it is, Mod's please delete. Ebay ad removed. You'll see why soon ;) )

Cheers,

Billy.

Glad you have got the info billy. Maybe they want to get rid of it before year end, it does seem quite cheap. I would expect that figure for a PX, so that is a bargain assuming there is nothing dodgy about it.
