Has anyone got favourite front tyres?

Post by SteveGT »

My factory tyres are needing to be changed, and I was wondering if anyone would recommend any tyres other than the Dunlops it came with?

Mine came with Contis, but I now use PS3s, much better tyre. And they last longer too.

Just replaced (29th September) my front two Pirelli P Zero – with Pirelli P Zero – which I found to be a good all rounder.(and good in bad/snow conditions as I live in the North East)

Mileage obtained from those replaced: 21,000 which I consider is quite reasonable.

Very pleased with them at £152.00 each fitted.

Mine came from the factory with P Zeros and I'm really liking them, which surprises me as my LCR came with them and I hated them on it.

Maybe I'm getting old or they just suit the Rocco.

I have Continental Sport Contact3's on the front. Liking them a lot so far. Seem much more grippy that the stock dunlops it came on.

Hated the Dunlop SP01s that the car came with. Got some Conti Contact Sport 2s and they are much better tha the Dunlps.

However, on our old Passat when it came to replacing tyres we used Kumho KU31s and they were pretty good - and I'd probably use the replacement KU39 on the Scirocco when the time comes.

I am just about to replace the Roc's original front P Zero's, but thinking about the Conti 5's as they seem to get high ratings, shame they are £241 each on a 19" rim  hopefully they grip better than the P Zero's as since all my "mods" the P Zero's struggle

Loved the contis on my renaultsport Clio, pirellis coped well with the Roc GT. My R came with Bridgestones which I had high hopes for but so far seem a little hard to read when pushing on and lacking in cornering grip. Time will tell. Take a look at the latest autoexpress tyre review.
