Ride Height, Speed bumps etc..

Post by dpac2000 »

Hi Guys

I have just added Powerflex bushes, Whiteline anti-lift kit and H&R springs
The car looks a million times better and it drives amazingly

I got all the parts from Scott @ Awesome GTI in Manchester and fitted them a couple of days ago.

Just wondered if anyone out there has had any problems with the OEM front bumper?? (i.e hitting speed bumps etc)
The car has dropped really well but the lip on the bumper looks VERY low and I'm not massively confident about clearance and now wondering
if I should buy a bumper with a splitter on it for safe measures...

Anyone??

I used to run my previous car at around 90mm ride height and that only rally caught on kerbs, speed bumps were fine if you drive over them slowly.

So i'd be surprised if a) You wanted to run a Scirocco as low as a track car and b) You could get it that low!!!

Hey guys

Thanks for the replies, will make sure I keep away from those pesky kerbs
I'm in York at the moment but will be driving back tomorrrow morning so will get the installation pics from my SLR

a couple of pics for now from my Iphone... just of the front stance and the geometry/alignment report
The alignment was a bit temperamental because the front camber is not adjustable... I'm not so clued up with allignments
but I've been told that the current setup will give a better drive

I'll get the better pics up tomorrow :)

My ride height in the summer

Speedbumps no problem for the front bumper when you are low. I think you will find that the jacking points have a harder time of surviving

Those triangular plastic diffuser type things under the passenger seats take some abuse too, mine scrape on speedbumps loads.
