Easing the pain of the waiting game

Post by danf430 »

As promised, I will now post the chronology of my order:

26/03/2011 Ordered Car: Scirocco R Rising Blue Manual

Beadles of Bromley, London, is the dealer I ordered from

Rang the dealer every 2 months. First time he said no news, the second time, which was 4 months in he told me that the car was being built for week 28.

Friday 8 July 2011: Build week confirmed: 28
Delivery date: 3 to 5 weeks after 28 build week.

13 July 2011: Dealer called me to confirm the car was built and is now dockside in the EU. He assured me it should be in Bromley in 2 weeks. He was quite confident about this.

18 July 2011: Dealer emailed me to confirm the car was UK side. It was now awaiting a transportation date, he also said mentioned possible delivery date in the very near future.

22 July 2011: Dealer emailed me to say that they haven’t had a exact delivery date yet, but the car had been moved from the port to the transportation area. He reckons he should have it by Monday or Tuesday. If so then he should be able to hand it over on Saturday/Sunday. He also pointed me in the direction of 7 days free insurance provided by VW and gave me the dealer code or reference numbers.

27 July 2011: Dealer emailed me to confirm my delivery date and time with me and that the car had reached their compound. Call VW insurance etc, that took a while but hey its free. They emailed me and the dealer the certificate of insurance. Now I’m just waiting to pick up the car.

I’m so happy it didn’t take the minimum six months that the dealer projected, maybe im lucky to have order at the end of march, I heard people have waited 9 months for their cars!!! I feel your pain. Anyway, I’ve got my epic road trip planned for the end of August. Really can’t wait now, also going to do the EVO triangle in Wales before I go!!

I hope this helps to make the wait more bearable, my advice is to create distractions for yourself, join a 7 a side football league, like I did, go on a short break, indulge in some office romance, I also did that, hahaha.

Do anything to take your mind off the waiting, give yourself something to look forward to during the week. AND before Trix decides to pipe up, I will add loads of photos on Saturday when I get back home lol.
