Re: Photos of the real colours
Sumatra looks a bit brown to me.
The red is rather striking although I think I preferred the slightly darker Geneva red.
I'm still gunning for rising blue

Re: Photos of the real colours
I have just seen the red and blue in Edinburgh and Stirling VW showrooms and reckon the blue looks the best. I've changed my order and expected build is week 42. Can't wait!!!
PS. The Salsa red does not flatter the car.

Re: Photos of the real colours
Can anyone confirm that the photo on this page is in fact salsa red? (or is it actually firespark or a colour not available on the UK production cars).
Reason i ask is i think that salsa red might be a brighter, more conventional flat red, similar to the Gti.If you actually go to a dealer and look at a sample it appears to be a brighter red colour and not the dark maroonish colour in the photos and in the broshure and on the website.Because if that isn't salsa red then i can see some very dissapointed customers come delivery day,and the broshure and website would be very misleading and constitute a major screw up on VWs part.
i hope it is salsa red though, looks like a nice colour.

Re: Photos of the real colours
That's how it was labelled on the site where I found it, however, I've just found a picture of a UK dealer car and swapped the pics round. That's definitely Salsa red nowDavidH wrote:Can anyone confirm that the photo on this page is in fact salsa red? (or is it actually firespark or a colour not available on the UK production cars).
Also added a slightly more white looking white one and a less contrasty viper green.
Re: Photos of the real colours
i'm gutted they are not doing firespark, i fear they have missed a trick with that one as i think it has real presence

Yep. I think it had some real oomph about it.
Maybe it's something they'll add in a midlife facelift if enough people ask about it.

It's probably a really expensive paint.if they could come up with something affordable that's similar then it'd be cool.Is it a production paint elsewhere or was it just used for the show cars?

Re: Photos of the real colours
Hey everyone, I ordered my car last week, I have driven around Scotland to see it in as many colours possible. I have ordered the Black but I may be tempted for the Sumatra, anyone know where I can see it in that colour?
I saw the Black in Kirkcaldy, Silver @ Gorgie Road and the Blue @ Whitehill Road both of those are in Edinburgh.
Before I saw the Blue I was possibly going to order it, then I saw it and decided to go for the Black, and now I am unsure as Sumatra looks very tempting.
Also I've opted for the Black leather, I've always wanted a tan leather interior but everyone including the sales exec advised me to go for the Black leather.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Mine is likely to arrive in early Jan, I can't wait, anyone know where I can offload my Golf? Very high spec: Silver 1.6 FSI DSG, Heated Leather seats, Sat Nav, AC, Elec Sunroof too, 6CD changer, 34,000 miles.
I think this is Sumatra, looks very nice but I gotta see it in the wild.

Go to an audi dealer.rehmondo wrote:I may be tempted for the Sumatra, anyone know where I can see it in that colour?
They do a very very similar sort of browny/purple kind of colour called lava grey. I'm guessing that's pretty similar anyway.
Re: Photos of the real colours
my a3 is lava grey love the colour, annoyingly you can't get it on a tt or s3, pitty as compared to met black a3s looks more special
dealer does think sumatra is a very similar, indeed if i stlill have time to change i think this could be a dark horse and tempt me from rising blue, unfortunatly my dealer end up with a silver rather than sumatra demo
not seen the tan leather in the flesh, i think will go well with black or sumatra, rising blue choice as said before is black, i don't mind interior being black all through and love black headlinings

Yeah same here mate, I like how the black headlining is standard they wanted £200 extra for that on an Audi A5 (which I was dreaming of getting before I laid eyes on the Sirocco), I'm really happy with my choice, now the hard part of waiting till January.andy wrote:i don't mind interior being black all through and love black headlinings
