Just to put my mind at rest went for another drive in the DSG demonstrator yesterday - you guys are so right - WONDERFUL! I tried the tricky stuff like really slow speed manoeuvres, parallel parking - and really starting to get it; the trick seems to be to be very gentle with the brake and the throttle too. Hadn't realised about the progressive kick down until he showed me. Also using the stick to take it in out of manual and into full auto - rather than waiting or pulling the + paddle. Tried it on sport on classic winding hill near me - OMG - what a blast! It made my 2.0 manual look like a Trabant... Still not quite happy about sitting at traffic lights with foot on the brake. May sit in neutral - but perhaps I am just old fashioned - hate dragging the clutch. Hey - and will I forget how to double de-clutch?!!!!!! But I am totally sold...

Also was very impressed with the phone integration with the RNS 510. I might look on another thread to see if it integrates with HTC as well as it did with the dealers iphone....

You're not dragging the clutch at lights. When you stop it disengages. Then when you come off the brake there's a pause for a second while it re-engages before you start to crawl forwards on normal auto box creep.

Glad you enjoyed it :D

Its just made me remember the only issue (my fault) that i had, my issue being that i still drive the wifes manual car and when i first got the DSG for the first day i found that when driving then going into reverse etc i would slam the brake on thinking it was the clutch (i dip the clutch the little in a manual to control my reverse) which lead to a very embarrassing reverse down my drive !!, and another embarrassing 3 point turn in the road !!

I have found the semi-auto option a God send and it gives me a lot more options. For example during commute, i would leave it at full auto, while B roads i would use manual.

it does takes some getting use to, but eventually it will grow on you.
