VW ridiculous labour costs
Just had my first service and whilst I was there I ordered a set of aluminium pedals. I asked the guy to quote how much it would cost to fit. I assumed as I had my service it might be a freebie. How wrong was I. £130 for an hours labour. From what you guys have mentioned its a five minute jobby. Shocking!!! ![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Re: VW ridiculous labour costs
Buy yourself the removal tool for £6 or use a pair of small electrical screwdrivers and a 10mm socket and do it yourself, realistically in under 15 mins. VW seem to charge a minimum of an hours labour for anything you ask them to do. Alternatively I will do it , for a more reasonable £60 per hour ![rofl :rofl2:](./images/smilies/roflp.gif)

Re: VW ridiculous labour costs
I said to the bloke its a 10 min job and he just stood there and said £130. Makes me angry. There isn't any wiring involved is there? Just need the tool to remove the screws of the dsg accelerator I guess?

Re: VW ridiculous labour costs
As Ian Mac said, 1 wiring block that pulls out, 10mm bolt towards the top left of the pedal and the tool inserts at the bottom to disengage 2 clips around 2 pegs on the floorpan (or you can fiddle around with 2 thin shaft screwdrivers). It then just lifts off and reversal to refit. With the VW tool its a 15 min job, but with the screwdrivers it's a bit fiddly, could take another 20 mins and a lot of frustration.

Re: VW ridiculous labour costs
I am buying a new roc car taking it June 25 th. I asked the dealer to replace the head lamp bulbs for me for Osram night breakers i thought it would be gratis but no, £42 having a giraffe or what? I am on holiday so I did this by e mail otherwise I might have gone down there to argue.

Re: VW ridiculous labour costs
130 pound its a 5 minute job , i know i did it myself without the tool, and im no mechanic you should have got the manager and refused to pay that much
i hope your not going to take it back there for servicing etc , they dont deserve your buisness
complaine to vw uk . thats a blatant rip off
when i bought mine i foned dealer for a quote to fit they gave me some bullshit about having to disconnect the engine management system - all bollocks
they are all just a bunch of chancers
