19" Tyres
Anyone replaced tyres recently (in the last week or so) seem to be having difficulty getting hold of tyres for the car. No Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2's No Continental 5P's and no Pirelli PZero's either.

Re: 19" Tyres
Not really wanting to spend £221 on them when they are usually £180 at ATS and National. Also the Goodyear are only £158 and Continentals £185.

Any of these do??

That could well be the classic of Supply and Demand..... they're usually that price, but have none so if you need them, you'll have to pay more.yellowplum wrote:Not really wanting to spend £221 on them when they are usually £180 at ATS and National. Have you tried places like Stratstone who have some sort of recent guarantee I keep seeing... if they have a VW dealership in the vicinity could be worth a look?

Re: 19" Tyres
Put it this way, I travelled 145 miles to purchase the car, that's how much I avoided the local dealership.
It's because the tyres are new and as per usual we (I refer to us in the UK) are the last to get things as opposed to our continental neighbours. Goodyear still don't have a production date for the tyre.
*Edit* Just spoke to Goodyear, next production date is August 2011 - typical

Re: 19" Tyres
I noticed my front ones not being that healthy. Think they easily have some time in them yet. Don't know how long. Dunlops are on now and seem fine, so Yellow, whatever you go for, let me know how you get on. I used to have P-Zero's for my last car and I didn't see the difference, so much so I brought some Kumho KU31 Ecsta Sport tyres for the front and they were the bargain of the century. Quiet, cheap, kept the car planted (still miss the ST handling) and up until I sold it still had an amazing amount of tread. £45 per tyre, £15 to fit them both and switch the old fronts to the back.
will probably go to a dealer this time to try and negotiate a deal. Can't imagine buying a tyre for £180+ and getting the local garage that exclusively employs Polish lads to do the tyre change. The way they threw my ST wheels around warranted me to tell them to calm the **** down. Not good.

Re: 19" Tyres
Its a bit of a nightmare to be honest, it's a balancing act isn't it - are you happy to be ripped off and pay over the odds for something that should cost as much as it does or do you just bite and buy. Depends how patient you are I suppose....also you note that most of these sites will allow you to order, then they call and tell you they don't have them. The reason being is that they back to back order (which works great most of the time when your supplier has stock) however when no stock is around you just end up waiting...
I did find one person with Continentals but driving from Portsmouth to Birmingham is a bit of a p**s take to get two new tyres...

Re: 19" Tyres
Yes the only downside of the 5P is that they wear out quicker, http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 0s24p63526" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the one you really want. Might have found it....fingers crossed will find out tomorrow if it is correct and has been ordered, otherwise they get stuck with it and I start again

Re: 19" Tyres
I remember my mate having some Goodyear tyres on his MR2 and using tip-ex to paint the white logos of Goodyear. Looked well ace too. lol.
I hate P-Zero's. But will wait and see. I really like the Dunlops I have now, but have nothing to compare them to.

Re: 19" Tyres
Bear in mind this is for my last car, not the Roc, but I brought them on the advice of a few people and I seriously didn't notice the difference. They were louder than the Arrowspeed tyres that came with the car. Rear wear was heavy considering it was an Fiesta ST, very strange but something not uncommon for the P-Zero. My main gripe is that they're not worth what I paid. No chance. I got the Kumho's for £30 cheaper each and they had more grip (were really good in rain too), better wear and were quiet compared to the previous 2 tyre sets.

Re: 19" Tyres
Just managed to get hold of 2 good year eagle assymetrics, thought I may have trouble getting them, but didn't. So very happy, will get them fitted next week, had these tyres before on my S3, they are superb, best tyres I have ever had on any car. They should be a big improvment on the Dunlops, will keep you posted.

Just managed to locate a PZero for £193 from Kwik Fit (I know not my first choice) - the first time they managed to send PZero Corsa but second time lucky and we have one.

Re: 19" Tyres
They were AS2, not had them fitted yet as my dunlops are not quite dead yet, 3mm left, so bought the tyres and will have them fitted at a later date.yellowplum wrote:markwiggy wrote:Just managed to get hold of 2 good year eagle assymetrics, thought I may have trouble getting them, but didn't.
