ROC is late, did you get a hire car

Hi All,

Many of you Roccers who ordered the 140TDI or 170TDI models in 2010 will have experienced serious delays in the delivery of your car. VW stated last year that after 16 weeks if your car was not ready then you would get a hire car.
I ordered my TDI170 early September 2010 and am expecting delivery in June 2011 so thats 9 months wait. In december 2010 I was supposed to get a relacement hire car from VW but they withdrew the option for me with no explanation given. Since then I have been forking out £500 a month for a temporary hire car.

I would like to hear from you if you did get a replacement car or if like me you were refused. Could you also let me know the approx date you were accepted or refused.

In Dec/jan I did however get a hire car from Vw. I'm surpassed the havent given you one seen as you have waited so long.

Do you have a build date yet?

As regards to hire car just keep pushing the dealer if not try getting your costs back that's the least they can do for the stupidly long wait many have had.

I got given an estimated date in Feb 2011 of week 16. I now have delivery date estimated for end of May/June, apparantly the car is now in the UK and I have just completed the paper work with the lease company and sent it. Please spread the word as I will build a case on behalf of all Roccers that have had these delays and no hire car

They revised the terms not that long ago IIRC... to you got a courtesy car if the car was 20+ weeks or more AFTER they had accepted the order rather than from when the order was placed.

Still worth raising a stink though, just in case!

I ordered a 170 with nearly all options mid-march and it's currently scheduled wk22

I ordered my car end of April and received the hire car 20 weeks from when the order was accepted,which is approximately 2 weeks later. Got a Audi A4 tdi.

I assume that was last year though as 20 weeks have not yet passed from the end of this April...

The change i mentioned above happened at the very end of last year or maybe the start of this year.

I ordered my 170 GT Tdi on the 24th Aug 2010, and have had a Hire car since December..... they just swapped it out for a new Passat

I originally ordered a Tsi 160 form Lancaster VW via a leasing company. 2 days before the 16th week I was sent a Mercedes C class, had it for 2 weeks and realised how much it costed to run so changed to an Audi A4 for a month and then tried a Golf for one month. when my car arrived they had built it to the wrong spec. This was alright tho as having the Golf encouraged me to add the parking sensors and phone prep which I had not originally included. My car is being built this week so hope it comes with everything as ordered!
The cost of the hire car is absorbed by the dealer which is why the experience is so varied between places. Just keep phoning them and kicking up a fuss and they will get the message!

Ordered Aug 2010, got hire car december 2010, still got hire car!

Just received paperwork from lease company on thursday though so looks like delivery next week
