Colour Multifunction Screen now unavailable *Update*

Post by Andy Leic »

Had a call from my dealer yesterday saying that the delay with my order being accepted was mainly down to the Colour Multifunction Screen option id taken up being discontinued and VW not being able to obtain this option from now on.

He emailed me a notice from VW that he'd received saying that this option wasnt now available and any new car orders with it had a choice of dropping it from their spec or waiting an unlimited time for it to become available once again. He didnt give me an expected date for it to become available again.

I dropped it because I want my car.

Yeah lot of stuff from Japan is in short supply at the moment. Wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason.

Not sure where its made unfortunatly. This could be the reason many of us havnt had confirmed build dates yet tho.

I'm in the same situation and today have just told my dealer to remove the option, as I can live without it to get my car quicker

I had the same problem when I ordered my car last November, so I said I would drop this option. The car came with the colour screen anyway - very happy with this, but it seemed very odd. The reason I was given was that it was a new option at the time and there was no factory code available to order it with. I could either wait for this (with an unknown timescale), or go with the standard version. Sounds like a familiar story that you guys are getting, too? I was gobsmacked when the car came with the colour screen...

colour mfd available

Just spoke to dealer and they have told me that the colour MFD is available once more. Might be too late for mine as I'm WK28 build but if your order isn't locked down and you want it back on, give your dealer a call

the central screen in the instrument cluster is white as standard (the very early cars had red ones) there is a cost option for this to be a full colour screen like so (clicky)

Great update Bob!

Got the answer: 'No'! Apparently once is is ordered - that's the spec; cannot be changed unless I am prepared to accept a later build date (by 2 - 3 months...)
