car, ipods & the cold

Post by tildesley »

hi

stupid question time, but i think you'll see what i mean...

when we have chilly nights and i leave the ipod in the car, my ipod with its metal backing freezes literally, so when i start the car, it doesn't work until its warmed up, does anyone else have this problem with their car? ie it been absolutely freezing. or what way is there around it other than taking the ipod out every night?

like i said stupid question but thought id ask

Not stupid at all. I've stopped using my hard-drive based iPod for this reason. I was always forgetting to remove it at journey's end. I've switched to an old un-simmed iPhone instead since the solid-state electronics seem to cope with cold a lot better.

I'm glad you posted this. Very interesting that someone else has the same problem as me. I have noticed that since the weather has started warming up, I have not had this issue.
What I find odd is that it never used to happen in my old car (Winter or Summer) when the iPod was left in the glove box as supposed to the central storage section.
