Day Driving Lights
Re: Day Driving Lights
My car is on standard lights, not Xenons.
The DRLs switch on dipped beam, side lights, tail lights and number plate lights. Everything except the interior and instrument lighting. That's 12 bulbs, total 160 watts. (6x 5w tail, 2x 5w number plate, 2x 5w side lights, 2x 55w headlights).
It's not going to increase Global Warming, but on a sunny day I want none of 'em.
Having calmed down a little, my next step is to write to VW.

Thats pretty crap! Mine only has those spots. I must admit I wondered why everyone was moaning but if thats the case its understandable. On your lights are the spots in the middle for full beam?

Re: Day Driving Lights
So The only thing to be auto when the light switch is in auto, is the instrument lights?
I really looked forward to Auto lighting and was going to pay for it as an option when I was thinking about the BMW 1... If the Scirocco didn't have Auto lights I'd be happy with DRL - Grrr

Re: Day Driving Lights
I wrote to VW yesterday regarding the DRLs and my wish to have them deactivated. Also expressed my frustration at how I've arrived at this point, two visits and four hours sat about at the dealers, and then being told "...we can try this but it might not work, and it might damage your car, and if it does, we're not paying..."
The service guys have been good, helpful and communicative, but I'm not happy with the way VW have dealt with me through the dealer on this issue.

I'm just as eager as you to get mine turned off, but have also had no joy at the dealers (although they have tried their best). They are currently trying to get a solution from VW at the moment and I'll let you know if they manage it. In the meantime if you get anywhere, please let us know.arlurt wrote:I wrote to VW yesterday regarding the DRLs and my wish to have them deactivated. The DRL Survey thread now has details of a recent DRL switch off if that's what you want.
