Re: Rear View Camera
The 3M1 part number doesn't existe at VW, I don't know here this part number came.
The retrofiting cable for scirocco doesn't exist, that's mean the cable for rear camera is included on an Master Central Cable on car...and to get the rear camera cable you need to change this master central cable. On Etka side no mention about witch cable it is
So to get this central cable a call from your VW dearler need to be done to the VW factory and ofcourse you will be asked to give your VIN number to see if your car came it rear camera before. And for sure this cable will cost you some money
The only possibility is on Kufatec side, cable will be available in 2 weeks

Hope all this information could help some of you
So forget the 3M1 part number...this number is not an VW number

Re: Rear View Camera
Looking at the link for the cable from kufatec this is the same as the cable you purchase from a dealer. You must also order the camera separately and no where does it mention a wiring loom for the camera. Before ordering I would ask them if there is any additional wiring necessary?kodo28 wrote:The 3M1 part number doesn't existe at VW, I don't know here this part number came.

Re: Rear View Camera
I am still waiting for the list of parts to make the boot loom.
However I used the camera and aerial wire that are in this list below. Camera is the top of the list and the aerial wire is the 5th. I don't know anything about this 3M1 wire.

Re: Rear View Camera
Below is a list of the parts i used to make the camera fit my car,in italics is the plug and play loom parts. I don't have a diagram, but I am sure it was fairly easy to make up. You need to attach the live wire from made up loom and splice it to the live fly lead of the aerial cable.
I believe it to be fairly similar to this pic. (taken from My Gti site), however Roc has different connectors.
5K0 980 551 x 1 - Camera
000 979 129 x 3 - repair Wires
000 979 133 E x 3 - repair wires
1J0 972 706 x 1 - Contact housing
191 972 716 x 1 - Connector housing
3B0 972 722 x 1 - Contact housing
5M1 970 161 AC x 1 - Aerial cable
3W0 807 210 B GRU x 1 - Support for camera (I sprayed this Rising Blue)
3w0 807 151 x 1 - End cap (l Shaped part - Bentley part so pricey!)

Re: Rear View Camera
Like I said the retrofiting cable for the Scirocco camera (1K8) doesn't exist for remplacement at VW so you can not find it on dealer. The cable for camera is together with a central master cable on car, so if you want to have it you need to change the master cable.BAIKAR wrote:Looking at the link for the cable from kufatec this is the same as the cable you purchase from a dealer. Re: Rear View Camera
Hi there, I'd ordered the kit from Kufatec however there's no installation manual in English format and I have no idea how to fix the VCDs set up. Assume all the wire are correctly fixed (one of the grey wire connected to Pin 28) but there is still no display.... does it also relate to the firmware version of the RNS510?
Kindly advise.
Thanks!!!

Re: Rear View Camera
I too bought one of these cables. And yes the instructions are only in german. The PDF must be protected as google translate is not able to convert the german into English. I've typed the words into google line by line and got an idea of what it's talking about.
The cable seems to be made up by them rather than a cable that comes from vw. Instead of tapping into the cars wiring at the tail lights they have three wires that run the length of the car to connect at the dash. One ground, one 12v and the other signal wire. This is were the instructions are a bit un clear as it shows a plug from the cars loom being unplugged from under the steering wheel and then tapped into. I'm not exactly sure what this wire is or what signal it is sending ie reverse light, Gear selection.
I had hoped this would be a plug and play loom as I didn't want to cut into any of the cars wiring to fit the golf type camera but it seems it's not possible to retrofit any camera without tapping into the cars looms.
Pp601 sounds like you have done correct but just have to code the camera. If you get it working please lets us know and can you tell me where you made the other connections for ground and 12v?

Re: Rear View Camera
Does anyone in London know how to do the install? (2010 MY2010 Scirocco)
I will provide all the parts as per the lists provided by DAR and SteveP, provide a good workspace (a garage in Wembley, I can provide transport if necessary) and any tools, paint etc needed for the job. All I want is someone to come and do the install properly, integrated with the RNS510 Unit.
Anyone interested?

Re: Rear View Camera
Hrrm kyfataec appear to be offering a loom plus camera kit in addition to the loom seperately anyone tried the full kit yet? I assume the support bracket is not included and needs to be purchased from the dealers.
