Tyre profile advice

Post by matchewa »

Hi everyone.

After a pothole clash I need to fit two new front tyres to my scirocco after only 7K miles driving :(

Anyways I'm wondering what impact if any of fitting 235/40/19 tyres instead of 235/35/19 that came fitted.

I'm hoping the slightly larger profile will provide a little more comfort/protection and also take a bit of the gap away from in the arches.

If anyone can offer me advise or comments they'd be appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

ETyres.co.uk has an online check and they recommend no more / less than 2.5% change, your new configuration is a 3.7% change

& if you try this link, located in the wheels brakes suspension forum it will give you how far out your speedo will read when altering tyre size

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Think I'll stick to the 35 profiles as I'm not changing the rear tyres.

Now the major question, which ones!

Torn between Continental ContiSportContact 5 P and Uniroyal Rainsport 2.. open for suggestions!

I have 235/35/19 on the front and 245/35/19 on the rear, and this falls nicely between the 2.5% change, in fact it feels better as i find the rear crashes over bumps as it always feels light compared to the front.
