Scirocco on Motability

Post by Djjmcw »

Hi all, this is my 1st post on this site, Today I test drove a Scirocco and loved it, Anyway when I got back from the test drive the dealer asked me for a £500 deposit for the car, the car is on the Motability scheme and the model I want is 2.0 tdi 170 in Viper green and advance payment is £2249 which I have. This will be my 4th car on the scheme and have never been asked for a deposit only the full advance payment on the day of delivery. She also mentioned there is a 5 month waiting list for the car which means I wont get the car till end of July instead of may when my current contract runs out.
Can anyone tell me if I need to pay the deposit and is the waiting time normal?
Thanks
J

No you dont have to pay a deposit. I was given the option of half now and the rest on delivery. Deposit should be purely optional for you. Any probs call motability themselves. i put £1000 down on my 1.4tsi 160. I dident have to, just thought as i had all the cash anyway £3199 inc all extras, then i may aswell. VW Windrush Maidenhead. I ordered mine 5th jan 2011, build week was last week. Expected end of April. HOPEFULLY!! You always get to keep your current car till the new one arrives.

i think the deposit is dealer dependant, i was given no choice with mine as the dealership could begin the process without it

Under the motability scheme you do NOT have to pay a deposit to place an order our dealer tried that to which I replied I will pay that when I collect the car on the 10/3.:)

As long as you take the relevant paperwork from motability.

A point worth noting is day to day the car can be a struggle to get in and out of, so it's not the best motability car in the world.

182-blue: Yep, certainly isn't the easiest to get into or out of - I wonder how "mobile" some people who qualify for mobility actually are, and what the mobility scheme is doing by offering cars that are potentially awkward to get into and out of. Not judging you"J" - I don't know your circumstances, but if you're not too affected by the Roc's accessibility, it's a great car to have,

My sister gets mobility for her ADHD son (in reality he misbehaves when she constantly ignores him and he is well behaved with anyone that gives him the time of day) - now that really is a disgrace that she gets it.

Hiya my Rocco was on Mobility and i put a £500 down but i didn't have to and was not asked. As for delivery i orderd on September the 24th, it was at the dealers 10 weeks later(i think i was lucky :) ) and found dealer great as Mobility, which this to is my 4th car. I lost my right leg high above my knee, i have found this car the most comfortable and have no probs getting in and out of as long as you can open door fully but that was the same on any car i have. The doors are not as heavy as they look and stay in place and don't swing back in a light breeze or slight incline. When i asked Mobility about i might need my car longer they said you can drive it for 6 months over the 3 year contract.

Firstly my rocco is on Motability and I did not pay a penny until the day i picked up the car. Also, mine is the 140 TDI and the power is absolutely fine so you should have no problem with the 170. The car is not the most practical in the world, but i decided i didnt care about that! My chair goes in the boot (just!) and that was enough for me as i fell in love with the rocco as soon as it came out! :-)

The wider doors on the average three door car can actually make it easier for disabled people to get in and out of. I've got oesteoarthritis of the lumbar region and I find problems getting in and out of my Volvo V50. I found the Rocco quite easy, can actually swing my legs in without catching my foot under the door. Now getting the Cocker out of the boot..............well that up to the wife.

Hi Everyone

This is my 1st post on this site as well! I am a wheelchair user and the 1.4 (160) Scirocco with a DSG is top of the shortlist. I am hoping that getting the chair in and out of the car will not be an issue. Can I ask if any of you out there test drove a Scirocco with hand controls fitted before you bought the car? My current Motability car contract expires in September so I think that I had better pop along to the local dealer sooner rather than later.

Alexis: The boot isn't much smaller than a Golf, it's just a different shape short and deep as opposed to a bit longer and shallower, it has a taller lip, which means you might have to lift it a bit further to get it in. If you have no issues getting yourself in and out of the car, with it being a bit lower than average, just check if your chair will fit in the boot.

Dinger: Just illustrating the fact my sister is a scheme abuser in my opinion - a misbehaved lad does not warrant getting disability benefits such as mobility.

The boots is quite awkward for putting chair in and out and it very much depends on the size of the chair, but like i say i decided it was worth it seen as it just about fits! :-)

Visited the dealer today to see if I could fit in one. It is a bit on the low side but I am sure that I can cope! Just need to speak with the Motability Specialist to work out the logistics of renewing my Motability contract. The salesman I spoke to in Camberley said that there is a six month lead time, so I juat have to find out when is the earliest I can order the car.

I ordered mine about a week before the 3 month mark, but the dealer was unable to put it through until 3 months before. But it was no problem sorting a lease extension out for what ended up being a month and a half over. Apparently it was fine up until 6 months.
