After ordering a Red 140 TDI GT back in Sept 2010 and was told yesterday by the dealer that the car is on schedule for delivery mid May, to which my response was "you are joking???" So I asked for the build day and was told week 16. After waiting 6 months. To be told that it will be another 2 months before they start to put the thing together is a bit of a blow, especially as there are no extras on the car. I asked what the hold-up was and was told that the high demand on the diesel engine is the main cause.
To be fair to the dealer they did offer me a car that was ordered for stock with a build week of 11 which is the same model but in white. Now I don't know what to do as I do like them in white but I am not sure if I would be able to keep it clean.

I also ordered late September and still have not received a build date. I'm now getting to the point where I wish I'd never ordered the car as the response from the dealer has been poor. I have called several times and e-mailed but they fail to respond with an answer. Hopefully the white you have have been offered is not mine!!!

They said it was a car they ordered for stock but you know dealers, they will tell you anything if they think it will keep you off their back.

I have decided to wait it out the extra month for the red one, not that I wasn't very tempted by the white (in fact I still am)

So if anyone is interested I know where there is a white 140 TDI GT that has a build week of 11 (it is a Northern Ireland dealer though.)

Bum steer..
That's what I've been sent on.

Emailed the dealer yesterday asking for an update,
He replies"it's still in GERMANY" well I thought it was made in portugal

My build week being week 6 I would have thought it should be in the UK since people say their car built same week as mine they were picking it up on the 1st of march.

GRRRRRR
I'm going out of my mind sat waiting here.

Has anybody been told they can pick their car up next week or know that their BW6 car is within the UK?

If that is the case its sailed on the Emden which arrived in the Port of Emden on the 16.02.11 with a Wk06 shipment. 16th to 25th is not an unusual wait time for the 2nd ship to Grimsby.

It should being put aboard a ship at Emden anytime now for Grimsby but there was a sailing early this morning for Sheerness from the port of Emden.
That ship is the African Highway due in Sheerness 26.02.11 @ 03:00. Currently off the Dutch coast near Amsterdam.

I ordered mine on the 14th sept 2010, was told it would be about 12 weeks and would have it just before christmas. I got told that if it did get delayed then i would be offered a hire car from jan 4th until my car arrived. The dates came and went and I then had an e mail saying the hire car was withdrawn as I would have my car soon. Now im being told im still awaiting a build week. Ive been onto customer services and they are just as bad as their dealers, you get different lies each time you call. Ive been told hire cars are at dealers discretion, then today I wastold there is no such scheme. I asked her to confirm the dates on the system and she said VW uk had my order on the 14th of Sept, but the factory did not accept it until 22nd feb 2011 and now I have an unscheduled build week at the end of may. She says this could change and take longer or could be ready earlier. if this is how VW treat their customers, I will never go there again. Im going to cancel and order something else. no car is worth this much hastle.

I'm now getting fruatrated with my dealer, Blade, as they are very pleasant on the phone and promise to get back but never do so i just feel I'm being fobbed off. Called VW customer services and experienced a long hold so nothing new there!!! Unfortunately as I was calling from work I did not have my order number so they could not advise but will try again next week.

Spud, that sounds classically like they had used their allocation up when they took your order, go hound them! BUT do it in a very polite but VERY firm manner as it is totally unacceptable. you may be lucky & they will pull their finger out to do make up for it (not necessarily be able to get the car any sooner) or they will say tough wait or cancel.

Dunc, get your commission number from them pronto!! you need this to be able to speak to VW customer services to get updates. & if the dealer doesn't ring you back keep ringing them till they are sick of you or go pay them a visit.

Put pressure on the dealer advising that there are many disgruntled customers communicating on forums plus informed them I was looking at a beemer. Suprise they gave me a build date of week 16. Not ideal but at least I can see the light and it has saved me from defecting. However, in the conversation they did say I could have my deposit back if required but i've waited this long so I'll hang in there plus the roads will be clean again!!

I ordered July 30th and car is built and either in UK or Emden (going to ring them today) so should pick up in next couple of weeks , I think it depends on how quick the dealer realised there was a problem with the orders and rectified it , my dealer eventually realised in November and reordered sounds like yours may have realised in late november ?

Hope you have a support car from VW , I have been driving a Passat since end of december in lue of Roc arriving

I ordered mine on Sunday (27th Feb) and have been given an estimated build week of 13 as the dealer had allocation. After reading this page I'm not entirely confident that will happen but at the moment am happy to wait for a car that I've wanted for years. :)
Ordered: 27th February 2011
VW Confirmed Build Week: 13
Built: 28th March 2011
Delivered to Dealer: 21st April 2011
Pickup: 30th April 2011

Time from order to delivery: 2months 3 days :D
