FYI - Scirocco production rates

Post by scirocco »

Some random information!

I was chatting to my dealer on Monday morning to confirm that my Scirocco has entered production as expected (build week five). During the course of the conversation he mentioned how pleased he was to hear that VW have just recently installed new equipment at the factory in Portugal. This enhancement should enable VW to produce an extra 200 cars per week and help reduce the current long lead times...

I have to agree with a4gee, one of the reasons I chose a Scirocco is that they are quite rare (well, round here they are) I've only seen 5 on the road, including 2 yesterday.

Not like those TT's, which are as common as muck!

I saw two within five miles last Monday, one in Rising Blue and one in Candy White, neither were local number plates. Common as muck, not like my Volvo V50. :hyper:

Saw 8 on the journey to collect mine (not including the ones at the dealer!), 5 of which were white.

I ordered mine last weekend and was told the waiting time was approx 5 months. That works for me though, I want it for a 61 plate in September.

I ordered a GT 170 with a DSG, on 4th January and quoted end of May at the very earliest.

I was told there were delays with some options inc. DSG and DAB and I've decided to go manual this time as I've had a DSG R32 for the last 5 years. It could be your DSG thats putting the leadtime out.
