Thule fitting kit

It's been a while since i was last on here, but I just went onto the Thule website to see if they have released a kit for the roc yet. Well it seems from their UK site that they have (fitting kit 1631) however can I find anything on the net that suggests a shop might actually be selling them? well i think we already know the answer, hence this thread.

If anyone else out there has seen more info on this product, or knows where i can get some from, i'd love to know

Hi Retsila.

I've been trying to find these bad boys for a while now with little joy although there seems to be a little light at the end of the tunnel.

I'd visited Halfords in the new year and they had nothing on their system regarding roof bars. They called Thule for me and said that the mounting system has just been approved and is now in manufacture. They said that we could place an order with Halfords and they'll go on "back order". Cost was around £170.00 although they said prices may change when released. I also called Thule myself just to confirm.

This is a bike rack for the rear of the car but needs a detatachable towbar adapter for it to fit. We all know the roc isn't certified at towing but according to Thule Towing in Nuneaton, we can buy (Feb 11) a detachable type towbar adapter which is basically a towbar without the swan neck part and the bike rack clicks into the towbar connector fitted to the chassis. I went to TowEquip in Nuneaton and RRP was around £250. Any of the Thule Bike racks coupled with the Thule Universal adapter will work with this. Looking at the costs involved with a rack and the towing kit it was coming close to 600 notes. I'm now off to buy the VW Roof Bars this weekend.

Finally.

Although the £96.97 on the fasteronline site doesn't seem to actually put the fitting kit in your shopping basket & I can't seem to find a way how.

Does anybody know the load ratings for the thule stuff? I seem to remember seeing the details for one of the bar sets mentioned on this site previously, and the weight limit being very low. That was then followed up by someones horror show of a set that collapsed after barely any use.
