Having now hit 16 weeks since order I revived my europcar yesterday. Baring in mind my order (see to the right) what are options on the car I have been provided:
09 1.6 diesel, silver 4 door ford focus with no ipod/iphone connection?
I think I would rather have a new fiesta or the Golf I was expecting!
Anyone else had better worse in this position?

I also have now hit 17 weeks and had my courtesy car arranged and they dropped me off a 1.6tdi 60 plate golf match auto 7speed brill lil car even for an auto. As I ordered a manual and been given an auto I have been told I can call them to change the car if I'm not happy. I would phone europcar and ask them to change it mate.

I called up Europcar and unfortunately they had no Golfs or similar cars available and I could be put on a list.DonnyViper wrote:I also have now hit 17 weeks and had my courtesy car arranged and they dropped me off a 1.6tdi 60 plate golf match auto 7 speed brill lil car even for an auto. however a lovely lady at the Europcar HQ (VW desk) has authorised an upgrade, this means that the Focus is going ot replaced by a (not so good on fuel) Mercedes C class.

I've got a vxl Insignia. Had it since just before christmas. It's a 1.8 petrol and is currently doing about 27mpg.

Re: Courtesy Car
I've been subjected to a insignia SE auto diesel with factory nav and bluetooth the economy is all of 34mpg which is rather rubbish tbh. Europcar delivered it in shocking state covered in mud and road grim with the interior lightly doused in cola. tbh I'd have prefered a golf match, but hey ho its a "free" car afterall.
Re: Courtesy Car
I got a golf 1.6 tdi auto bluemotion before xmas, well chuffed much more practicle than the passat i was told i would get. Returns 60+ mpg on a long run. Ordered my Scirocco in Aug and was told today i might not get it much before June if im lucky, shouldnt complain too much 6 months of free motoring!
Re: Courtesy Car
the C class they delivered has 1000 on the clock and is a lovely car its just not me. (I am only 25 and this is more for those over 45, no offence!) Its getting 29 mpg and i will be having it for at least 2 months. Europcar seem really responsive and they indicated should I wish to change give them a call or tip up (with current car full of petrol) and I can exchange for whatever in stock so I may take advantage!
Re: Courtesy Car
it does make me smile, you moan about the focus, you then go whoopie i've got an upgrade and then you moan about the upgrade as its a bit thirsty and from a premium brand not in keeping with your yearsmortc002 wrote:the C class they delivered has 1000 on the clock and is a lovely car its just not me. the VW situation on orders is poor but you got to consider, you ain't mainting, taxing or insuring it just filling it with gogo juice
i'e had a 1.6 mk6 golf for a week and it was a thirsty car with zero performance so you have been warned

Re: Courtesy Car
I've currently got a 1.4 golf as a courtesy car and am thinking about just getting a totally different car altogether from the scirocco and telling vw to beat it. Where do I stand on having had a courtesy car from them. Am I under some sort of contract to definitely buy a car still or if I give it back and go to another brand will they turn round and say I have to pay europcar for the time I've had their car?
It's a personal lease and I've put no money down so won't lose anything deposit wise.
Anyone done similar?

Surely you have signed some sort of contract ?, if you have you need to have a read of itNickyJ wrote:I've currently got a 1.4 golf as a courtesy car and am thinking about just getting a totally different car altogether from the scirocco and telling vw to beat it. Re: Courtesy Car
You must have signed an order form for the car.. else how would dealer know what to order for you, or have any coverage if you said the final car was not what you ordered.NickyJ wrote:Been passed for the credit, car ordered in august but not paid or signed anything but the form for the credit check.
Re: Courtesy Car
Typically the initial order form will have a fee if you cancel, in my lease's case its £500 - £500 for a Merc for 3 months wouldn't be bad but I cant wait for my roc!b0rk wrote:You must have signed an order form for the car.. else how would dealer know what to order for you, or have any coverage if you said the final car was not what you ordered.NickyJ wrote:Been passed for the credit, car ordered in august but not paid or signed anything but the form for the credit check.
