Front Mud Flaps - only gone and bought some **Now Fitted**
I know there's a love/hate relationship with mudflaps on here but seeing the state of the car today when I took it out the garage I took the plunge and went and bought some.
Only the fronts though, dont like the look of the rears at all. Hopefully with the car being CW they'll contrast nicely and not look too bad.
At the end of the day I can take them off again come spring if I'm not loving the look.
Just need to get them fitted now, a job for Saturday maybe.
Taking the car on a nice 300 mile motorway trip next week so we'll see if the mudflaps make any difference.

Done the same mate. Just the fronts and you don't even notice they're there
They do help stpo the crap goin up the doors . The dirt tends to stay down on the sills below the black rub strips now

Will do, I'll have to give it a wash as well. Sure there are some pics already on the forum somewhere, seem to remember looking a while back. I'll put some up as well though once they're on.

Not tried yet, can't be too hard though - think you have to remove the front wheels.

I know! They're that price on EBay when you factor in postage.BadBoy wrote:OUCH!Ian_Mac wrote:£58 from the dealers, possibly cheaper else where but since i was there and they had them in stock I thought why not!

No not yet, maybe tomorrow if it stops snowing but at the moment it's not looking good weather wise.
I'll pop some pics up as soon as they're on.

Unfortunately a liberal coating of the white stuff put pay to my plans to fit the mudflaps over the weekend.

Ha, glad to see my Candy isn't the only dirty b!tch atm. I'm seriously considering front flaps as well. Not much you can do about her arse, it's wide and just attracts all sorts of unwanted attention.

Re: Front Mud Flaps - only gone and bought some **Now Fitted
Well finally I've managed to grab some free time to get the mud-flaps fitted.
Bit of a pain in the ar@e getting the first one on but then the other side only took around 15 minutes. I think the VW instructions of getting a 10mm spanner onto one of the securing nuts is quite optimistic, I found a 10mm socket on a small bar much easier to fit into the gap.
It's surprising how much crap had accumulated behind the wheel arch liner so while I was on I gave that a good blast with the jet washer.
Here's a few pics of them fitted:
Firstly this is what I was sick of
One without the wheel on
And a few of the car after it'd had a good wash!
To be honest I don't mind the look of them at all, they contrast nicely with the Candy White.
Hopefully they'll do their job, on the downside I did notice a nasty scrape on my nearside front alloy which must be from a pot hole or something
Also, it's in need of a good Tardis cleaning again.

seems a good price considering the price from the oficial VW catalogue being 86 pounds.
if you can Ian, take some pictures after a dirty trip with the muck, and see how well it does.
i am already inspired and make this my spring project.

They don't look bad at all. They come as standard here in FInland. First I felt tehy loooked out of place but as I've now driven the lovely Rocco (5th day today) in this horrid slush, I think they are alright. They keep at least some of the crap off her sides.

I think they'd look good colour coded!
