Factory handsfree kit

Post by sicourt »

Hi all - Just a quick question! I am looking at buying a Roc & ordering a factory fitted hands-free phone kit so I can make calls on my iPhone......but is this functionaliy fitted into the radio head unit? I was thinking about eventually upgrading to a built-in sat nav (a second user one to save some cash) but if I did this would I then 'loose' the phone functionality, if it was built into the original head unit??

Cheers!

Hi M8
Its a stand alone unit ! , It fits under the driver seat as a factory fit bit of kit !, So upgrading the head unit shouldn't be an issue !, loads of members have done it already

Nice one mick, will tick the option box! Was just thinking, would the same apply to the DAB radio option, or is this also a box which sits elsewhere in the car?

I've got DAB !, its built into to RCD510 so if your planning to swap out to a Rns510 you'll lose the DAB , as far as i know you can't get a rns510 sat nav with DAB yet

DAB is built into the RCD510, it is not available on the RNS510 therefore if you replaced your radio you would lose it completely.

regarding the phone kit, yes its predominantly a box under the seat as mick says but it has to interface with the radio so bear in mind it will probably need some coding

Was about to say, I have RNS510 but no DAB, although the setup menu (the cr*p one I have) puts it to a screen that states FM / AM and DAB.
