1st Longlife service cost

Post by tony4147 »

My 1.4tsi is due it's first longlife service at 19K miles 15 months old. I have been quoted £263 from one dealer which seems a rip off, what have other owners paid for a longlife service?
and are there any good independents in the Manchester/Stockport/Cheshire areas?

£263 for an oil change is a joke.

have you tried ringing round other dealers for a price to get your local dealer to match?

Couldn't tell you about TSI prices, but for 2.0TDIs, one dealer wants £199, and another one 6 miles away wants £142 - definitely worth shopping around. Maybe even to a Seat/Skoda dealer, they're all VAG parts being used.

There's around £70 of parts in that 1st service (5 units of oil, oil filter and sump plug washer), and it's an hours job - I think £80 - £90 an hour for labour is more than enough. If you've got a lot of dealers in your area it's always worth phoning around.

Good old Longlife services eh, on my edition 30 on T&D I paid £99 for first year and £115 for the second year, LL for me would have cost far more, the best thing to do is to ring around and get cheap quotes and get VW to match, i get quotes from Skoda dealers who tend to be less

Oh and when buying new as a deal clincher always get at least the first service free, if not 2nd too  , that's what i do and they always go for it, i got 2 free services with mine this time

On that note I'm pleased I managed to get the '£250' 3yrs servicing thrown into the deal!
Quite a hefty price for a service in comparison to my mk2 golf... 25 quid and an hour of my time!

Hi i called my dealer they quoted £129 and the local dealer who quoted £169 As my dealer is a 45 mile round trip i called the local one again and asked them to price match which they have Why the difference? its still a long life service still cheaper than my last Audi
If you see S9 CTC driving around give us a wave I do 40,000 miles a year it gets lonely out there
