High Pitched Whistling Sound at Idle and Low Speed?

Hi, Can any one help.

I drive a 2010 2.0 TSI GT 1400miles on the clock and have noticed a high pitched whistle at Idle and low speed when the engine is warm.

The whistle is intermittent and can vary in volume. You can hear it without lifting the bonnet. One day I could hear it in the cab driving in slow traffic with the windows down. It has never been heard with the engine cold.

I have had it back to the dealership and and have manged to hear the whistle albeit much quiter than the worse episodes I have suffered. The dealership agrees they can hear it but are confused as to what is causing it? I understand they are speaking to VW Tech in relation.

Has any one else had a simalar problem??

its not the exhaust resonance rattle , but thanks for the links.

VW tech returned no known issues .

However the dealership have now managed to replicate the fault at full volume and reckon it comes from a secondary coolant pump driven by an auxilary belt hid beneath engine covers.

New pump and belt on order to be fitted tommorrow.

Hope this is the problem and the fix.

Turned out just to be the belt and not the pump.

Got the the dealer today and they said that there is nothing unusual.

I hope that owners that drives this engine can pop in and give their opinion at the subject.

Dont know about you but it sounds unusual to me and the dealer says so too. Trouble is we dont know what it is. Im sure its somting to do with the turbo and nowt to do with the water pump listed by me above.

Im goin to sit it out for while and monitor the situation

I was at the dealer yesterday.

We set an appointment for this week for a check which will include a full description of the problem and a digital recording of the noise and then send it to Germany for aquiring.

You said they wanted to replace the water pump but they only replaced the belt?
Maybe it is the belt?

The whistle has dissapeared for now - I dont think its the waterpump belt at all , I think its Turbo related
