urgh RTC with my new rocco...

Post by 3t3p »

So my first incident in 7 yrs, but unavoidable as the van pulled out from a pub carpark into my path of traffic:(

Van has two-three small scratches round the front whell arch that's IT.

My car...looks like a bomb went off from the front!

yeh I was taking rest of day off work too cos felt all 'viral', I KNEW I shouldn't have gone in this morning and this wouldn't have happened! That's what you get for being hardcore and getting on with things...

witnesses scooted off (shakes fist)

got pics yeh, one of his van 'damage' too but scared to upload that atm even though number plate not on show.

He was a sound guy in the end, neither of us got angry at each other and he even phoned me later to see if I got the car home alright (had to be towed by RAC!)

gutted but there we go

hard to make out in the photo but main concern is 0.5cm into the lip at the front of the bonnet it is bent dowward 30 degrees and the paint has cracked, rest of the bonnet and hinges are fine. hope they can fix it as I am a percectionist and it will bug me to pay for a defect in my car for three years!

no need to upload the pics of the van here just as long as you have them for insurance purposes.
make sure you get your full account down on paper now: diagrams, approx speeds, distances, anything to clarify what happened to avoid any doubt

As long as you're ok that's all that matters. Metal and plastic can be fixed.

well it's in the repair shop now, they will replace the badge for some reason and straighten out the bonnet then complete respray, new front air conditioning radiator and plastic bumper parts. They will also respray 'the wings' whatever those are! for continuity of colour.

He assured me it will be as new, I sure hope so! poor roc...

The wings are the side metal panels that are around/above the wheels. They look ok tbh but hey, that's what insurance companies pay for!

the fact they are paying that much detail is good, by spraying the wings it won't look so obvious if the colour isn't quite right & will blend the new panels into the existing ones.
have heard of plenty of occurances of peoples cars getting fixed & the repaired panel colour being as different as night & day to those around it

I hit a Pheasant at 70 MPH yesturday and it caused similar damage to my bonnet bent down and cracked the paint and seeing as the pheasant didn't have any insurance or indeed a head i'm paying for the damage i'm hoping they can repair the bonnet without it costing too much
If you see S9 CTC driving around give us a wave I do 40,000 miles a year it gets lonely out there
