Wheel Paint Code?

Post by s10am »

Im doing the odd little paint chip on our current Golf before it gets returned in order to pick up the Rocco :D
Some may say leave them but i have plently of experience having restored a classic car and have a buffer and various grade cutting compounds to make them all invisable ;) . Only thing is i have one scrape on one of the alloys about a cm across thats bugging me :(

Does anybody know the specific paint code for VW standard silver alloys? Or do VW do a touch up kit for alloys?

Only other thing im having trouble with is the lower black plastic rear bumper section on a mkv Golf ours has some deepish gashes out of it when some rock debris caught it on the M6 a year or so ago

Dont really want to spend lots replacing that part but is there any way you can fill/make good/disguise deep scratches in textured bumper plastic for not a lot of cash?

All help and suggestions gratefully recieved :)

Jodie :)

The paint code touch up stick is "L 009 101" Chrome.

I've not found this to be a good match in the past due to the way the one stick touch up can settle (Best results were obtained with the wheel off and flat on the ground).

Tried several shades in the past of touch-ups and use Mercedes Brilliant Silver Metallic. The metallic fleck settles best to match. Not absolutely perfect but much better than the VW above.

Really!

They should be given a whack. They need to look up the parts system under paints for the Scirocco.

The wheels silver is "L 009 101 - Chrome" for a pencil touch up stick (hence the ref 101 in the part number) for all VW wheels in silver.

Always lay the tyre/wheel flat on the ground when used as its a one touch stick. The paint metallic flecks will then settle out to the bottom with the clear laquer coat on top.

Sometimes the L009 doesn't quite match, so a good alternative to try is Mercedes Brilliant Silver touch up or spray from Halfords. Check a small area before going the whole hog.

Would you say the standard colour for the interlargos wheel is BRILLIANT CHROME, Part no 3C8601025D 88Z ?

The 18" interlargos wheel PN 3C8601025D is done in "Burnished Aluminium" code 3AJ or "Bright Chrome" code 88Z. UK specification is for bright crome IIRC but could be factory swapped to Burnished Aluminium. Your best bet is to take a wheel off and read the paint code.

Lower part of the Rear Bumper is only about £40. And that's from VW if of any interest?

I have a small chip on one of my lovely 3 month old Interlagos wheels. Don't want to risk it getting worse when bad weather arrives so is it still considered best to get the Mercedes Silver Touch up paint. As suggested previously in the thread I rang up local VW parts department and they were no help at all when I asked what should I use to touch up the wheel! This forum has been much more help!

Any advice appreciated.
