I have bought the TPMS retrofit bits from Kufatec and plan to install this myself. Is it OK to install it in stages? I may only have time today to plug the wiring into the TPMS button and install it in the dash, but not have time to route the wire to the ABS controller. That shouldn't be a problem in the interim period should it?

I think I'll install the new button in the area in front of the gear stick. I could put it in the glovebox (there is a blanking plate in there), just like on the newest Sciroccos, but I would rather have it on show to eliminate one of the blank switch plates on show by the gear stick.

Thats no problem. The button only picks up 12v from the ESP button. It does not activate or affect anything untill You do the long wires to the ABS.

Installed the wiring yesterday and got it VAGCOM coded today - All works!

I'm chuffed!!

A couple of points though... For anyone in the UK trying this and using bianco's How-To guide in the Roccopedia, the long wire which goes to the ABS control unit in the engine bay should be routed through a hole in the firewall on the PASSENGER side of the car. At first I had a quick glance at the How-To guide's photo, saw the pedals and thought it should be routed on the driver's side - I was wrong! bianco has a LHD car...

The ABS control unit can be found by removing the car battery - It is then in the far right back corner of the engine bay. You will see the ABS pump with brake pipes coming out of it, well it's just there. You need to pull up on a big plunger type securing bar (straight upwards vertically), and it will release the ABS control unit which can then be pulled out to the left.

You must then remove the back cover of the ABS unit (to reveal where the wires go in). PIN 35 can be identified by tiny and hard to see numbers stamped into the plastic, so use a good torch. You need to push the white silicon plug/grommet out before you can push the new TPMS wire in. I used a wire coat hanger (straightened out obviously, with the end folded over as at first it just pierced through the grommet instead of pushing it out).

Had my friendly REVO dealer set the VAGCOM coding for it today. It didn't 'accept' it at first but a second attempt worked fine

BIG thanks to bianco for the How-To guide!!

Check the tyre pressures are correct, then whilst parked up stationary (I have the engine off but ignition on), press the button for a few seconds until you hear the beep

i had flat tyre indicators as an option but I do not have a button, i think there is a light on the dash somewhere that comes on when a tyre is flat. Is that right?

Check for your button in your glovebox above the key-hole-switch to deactivate the passenger airbag ;)

ehhh not sure...

But if the flat-tyre-icon in the dashboard lights shortly when you turn the ignition on, then it works.

No, your Scirocco uses the Mk60EC1 system for TMPS ie Tyre Pressure Monitoring TPMS / PR-7K6. This TPMS uses the ABS sensor signals to determine differences in wheel rotation for a tyre deflation. Its turned on in 03 Controller, not 09.

That bit isn't new that you've found, its just been documented. Its to do with the older system where air pressure monitors with RF links are fitted to the wheel valves on the inside of the wheel rim, therefore inside the tyre. ie. TPMS PR-7K3/K4/7K5 systems.

The label files are universal, so they present items that are not fitted to the Scirocco.

Remember it takes up to 100 km to learn the state of the tires, so go at least that before testing.

All depends on the driving pattern. I've just completed two 800 mile-ish (1300Km) following resets. Niether fully calibrated using VCDS to read the calibration data fields. Mainly urban 50kph driving with some 120kph. The only the original rest I did fully calibrated. To do that I drove 80Km at 120kph in one drive.

Both should be off. They are for didicated separate Tyre Pressure Monitor System controller units. These controllers are not fitted to the Scirocco so the CAN Gateway does not need to know about them.

The Tyre Pressure Monitor System on the Scirocco is part of Controller 03 - ABS Brakes. At the top of the Controller 19 list not shown in your screen shots, you will see this is already controller 03 is switched ON as part of the braking system.
