Mysterious Part

Post by AndyInGlasgow »

Hi,

I was cleaning my car at the weekend and a mysterious plastic part appeared in the drivers footwell. Not sure where it came from, the front seat was moved forward at one point while hoovering out the rear.

Pictures attached. It has various part numbers on it:

8E0 881 348E with Germany written under it with >ABS< and an audi hoops symbol

There is also number 4F0 881 348 (though could be an O rather than 0 after 4F)

There is also lettering RBU, a little pic of what looks like a clock or compass and the number 2!

Answers on a post card please! I can't see anywhere obvious it has come from!

I just googled the part number and found this pdf for audi seats

The part number is on page 95 and the ones after.

Looks like it might be a cover for the seat runner.

I think the little clock bit tells you when it was made. Looks like Oct 09.

Thanks Kev, will have a look at the runners in the daylight!

Makes sense given that it was after the seat was moved!

As the months are going by I'm starting to notice lots of little niggles with VW build quality!

I think you will find the other half of it is still in place between the driver's side inboard seat rail and the centre tunnel at the very front of the seat rail.

Yeah the sticky out L shaped part definitely looks like it slots or hooks in to something with another half still in place.

I'll correct that,... from the outer driver's seat rail forward end on the inboard side of the rail.
