Mr Simmo-You have done exactly what i am trying to do,my old control box is 5N0035730C. If i get the 7P6035730C did you have to change any of the codings or any of the parts holding the box or is literally a straight swap?

Hi Starshaped

It looks like you have the same control box as my old one, With my RCD/RNS 510 (cant remember which one is which - mine has the sat nav included and dvd player) I just unplugged the old box with the ignition off and plugged in the new one. It worked straight away. The aerial connection of the old RSAP box isnt used by the new box so you can't use the car as the external aerial like you could with the RSAP one but everything else is much much better!

Cheers, Simmo

Hi Micke. Any update on the Dension? I am looking at getting one and would be interested to hear your views on it.

I've just ordered a Scirocco and starting to panic over the factory bluetooth option. Seem to seeing lots of conflicting info. Dealer didn't have a Scirocco with factory Bluetooth so I paired with the showroom Golf which was fine. But everyone seems to have a different answer! Even current price list states rSAP!

Can anyone confirm that current factory option Bluetooth works with none rSAP phones ( specifically iPhone)?

To reply to my own question. I have just tried the Dension Gateway Five and although the bluetooth part worked OK, it turns out the media interface part is not compatible with the VW MDI and neither work correctly when the Dension is fitted. So I had to swap to the Fiscon which works perfectly.

I have a new GT TDI 170 with the bluetooth telephone kit... picked it up on September 2nd, and it works fine with my iphone 4 and my wifes 3GS. VW have upgraded the system recently so its now iphone compatible, so you should be fine too :D

I've had a parrot for last 2 years, all set up to use the steering wheel controls so no need to have screen in veiw (except for initial pairing) can place in glovebox if you don't want to see screen........ Always feel Parrot has performed better than manufacturer kits, last Audi kit I had was absolute pants.

to confirm, in my new gt 170, after an initial hiccup, it now works.

Item number (on eBay) 280561444631 was the same unit as in my car in case anyone is interested

Or search for part number 3C8035730A

Hi Skindemon
I'm interested in going down this route.
Was it just a straight swap out or did you need to do anything else?

Psy :welcome:

Skindemon did not replace anything in his car, he ordered the factory fit bluetooth on his order and has just taken delivery. He checked the part number of the bluetooth box that was fitted in the factory is the same as people with the old style have been retrofitting to confirm its the right one. (or thats how I read it)

Skindemon, you can change your profile to 'I drive a' now ;)

Psy,if you have the factory bluetooth with the early 5N0 box which doesn't work with anything then you need the 3C8035730A box off that link on Ebay (ONLY FOR WHITE CLUSTER THOUGH). Whe you plug it in it should just work as all the codings have already been set for the original box.

Yup, Trix, that's correct.

Basically, when I first connected my iphone, it paired but wouldn't call. So I then went down the route of researching which module I need to get (assuming I had the wrong one). Subsequently found it was the right one and therefore an issue with the phone or something else.
After deleting the phone / few issues / reset at VW, it is now paired - although it appears my 'driver assistant' system is defective and needs replacing!

Phew!
