2 year service plan from Arnold Shark

Post by BadBoy »

I have been offered a 2 year/24k miles manufacture service plan from VW AC, costing £289.

Is this worth it as i have found out you can have the car set to a ll service schedule so effectively within the 2 year period it will only need servicing once?

Depends how many miles you'll do. If you do less than 30k miles in 2 years, you're unlikely to need more than one service on the long life. One of these services is £140 at my local dealer, and compared to some posters on here , some might say that £140 is expensive!

I got a 3 year/unlimited mileage service plan for £350 when I bought my 'Roc recently from Verve Wishaw.

Personally I wouldn't go near Arnold Shark

A couple of mates in Glasgow reckon Verve is no better than Arnold. One of them had to spend upwards of £1500 to fix a car sold by Verve in Glasgow, he only had a 3 month warranty before he had problems with the Engine Management Unit and fuel injection, this happened one week out of warranty. I have also bought my last 6 cars from AC without any problems. Maybe its just the numbers game, Arnold sells a lot more than others therefore maybe experiences more problems than others?

If you are buying using VW finance before 30th September you should get free servicing for three years. If not then VW are still selling three years servicing for £250.

thanks for the replies guys, I have found both verve and AC crap really. However AC in the west end have been the best for me.

i think I will go for long life as it means that I will need to take the car to them less and would save more in the long run as it is only a 2 year deal being offered as the 3 year deal is even more money £389.

it states its only available from participating retailers and i don't think AC are one of them as they offer their own version.

Perhaps the £250 deal from VW could be used to bargain with the dealer on the price of their servicing if they aren't doing the VW deal?

I did try and got the usual bull about not making any money from it. I will see what they say when I pick the car up next month. Match vw price or forget it!

Maybe you could call VW customer services and ask if there are any dealers near you that are participating in the promotion. There is always a chance your dealer is participating, but would rather sell you their plan.
