0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
Has anybody actually tested vw's time in the new 210 bhp 2.0 litre gt, as i have heard the 6.9 secs is a bit over, and infact they are quicker, would be very interested to find out how much quicker, thanks.

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
My previous Astra did 0-60 in 6.2 - 6.6 secs (depending on who's figures you believe) and my 210 Scirocco feels noticeably slower so perhaps the figures are about right?

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
Ive got a 200hp scirocco, and the figurs on most mags are 7.2 but ive done it in 6.9 if i recall. Really i think it all depends on the driver like the acceleration and stuff (if you drag or not etc). Ive seen figures saying the 210 is exactly 6.8 but i think its off you can do it in 6.6 i beleive. Was watching once an episode of top gear where the stig went agains jeremy in a drag race (audi r8 spyder and porche turbo spyder). The stig on the first run was in the porche and massacred jeremy but then when they switched cars, the stig beat the porche, so when it comes down to it it depends how you drive really and change gears.

Auto Express have tested it and recorded 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.
Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
cheers guys, 6.5 sounds great, i guess your not going to tell the difference that much, but its nice to know it will beat a tt if it has to! yeah i saw that too, just shows doesnt it.

Old one gets 6.2 in Evo and I think 5.6 in VW Drive mag

5.6! hope so, that would be quite a difference. thanks
Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
That's with a DSG gearbox, which is quicker and more reliable on 0-60 sprints.

I just checked the magazine, and it states 5.6 with the MK6 Gti at 6.2

5.6 is way too quick a time for its power to weight ratio. 6.5 maybe is a more accurate figure IMO

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
I agreed - my old Boxster S was about 5.6, and the 'Roc doesn't feel that quick (I have 210PS with DSG, albeit still quite tight). The Box weighs less, and has 80hp more, as well as RWD. Can't see a 'Roc beating that - even an R would only just about live with it to 60, and then get dropped up to the ton I'd have thought.

I'm not arguing, its just what VW Drive printed, I am more inclined to believe the Evo figure of 6.2 (200ps), the new 210PS can'be slower can it?

Wouldn't have thought so - though if a company knows a car is being used by the press, they have, now and again, been known to send out particularly 'fit' versions. I recall Autocar getting a Fabia vRS diesel to 60 in an amazingly quick time prompting suggestions that there had been some fettling.

I've never had the privilege of learning how to accelerate a car for max 0-60 nor the chance to do so with an accurate means of measuring/timing it, but from the cars I've driven/owned with claims of 0-60 in the 6 - 7 secs region (Megane 225, Astra VXR, Sierra Cosworth, MINI JCW, Megane 250 - all of which feel faster than a 210 Scirocco, and none of which claim to break the 6 secs barrier), I'd say that 6.2 would be optimistic. No matter, it has a lot of other qualities that would make me sooner own it than any of the others mentioned.

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
Theres a great little app for iPhone called dynolicious. It works by sensing the cars first movement when you start and works through the gps mode so the speed is far more accurate than the speedometer which tend to over read slightly.
6.4 again seems a little too quick for the 200bhp model but then again???

u have to do the launch control to be able to achieve that time. but ive heard its not so good to the gearbox so i rarely do that. only to show off

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
With the Roc's speedo being about 8% optimistic, anyone who tests their own Roc with it's speedo will likely get a 0-62 time of 6.2 seconds, but they'll actually be measuring 0-57mph in 6.2 seconds.
Assuming linear acceleration (which it won't be) 0-57mph in 6.2 seconds would get you a representative 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds, more like reality.
I wonder whether the official times are for a "straight out of the box" very tight engine, or whether they're for a well run in engine. Maybe these mags that get great times are doing them in a well run in model?
How tight were everyone's 2.0TSIs from new? My 170TDI was very tight for the first few hundred miles, but my previous 140TDI wasn't tight at all - didn't really improve much with putting miles on it, just wondering whether the 2.0TSI is one of those VAG engines that really loosens up or is almost as good as it's going to get from the start.

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
Taken from an Auto Express group test on the 170 diesel:
Thanks in part to its optional DSG twin-clutch gearbox, our test car served up unrelenting acceleration, scorching from 0-60mph in only 7.3 seconds. In-gear pace was stronger, too, with the sprint from 50-70mph taking 7.7 seconds – that’s 1.3 seconds faster than the Peugeot.

Quick enough for me, slightly quicker than my manic Honda Civic VTi.

Re: 0-60 time on new 210 bhp model
somehow i test my car against an audi TT MTM with over 250+ hp from 0-100km/hr i won by slightly but could be because the TT was spinning tyre alottt. but we had 3 goes on a track and I won everytime. but on a freeway back to city from 120 km/hr onward to 200+ the TT starting to leave a big gap.
