Hi
just got back from holiday and just watched the Recording of thursdays Fifth Gear Testing the 1.4tsi Rocco against that Peugeot Thingy
I noticed that the car they tested a 59 plate Rocco had cowls around both the Speedometer and Tacho just like on the new Golf and like in this piccy Below (please note the picture below is actually a mk6 golf cluster)
however all the brand new sciroccos ive seen even unregistered ones in dealers showrooms on display have this sort of instrument cluster that doesnt have the cowls
so whats going on?
did fifth gear have a prototype for a facelift or are all roccos being built now getting Mk6 Golf style Dashboards with Cowled Dials?
Current Dashboard Spec Cowled Dails or Not?

Watching it again the close-up shot of the dials reveals blue needles i reckon they used footage of a Golf R, as a Scirocco 1.4 has neither the cowls or the blue needles.....

I think there may be alot of poetic license/filming in that review Joloke, when showing the interior shots with Tiff driving (over his shoulder) there is clearly the old style air con with 3 knobs but then there is a shot at 3:25 which shows the new style block controls (a la Golf mk6)
so looks like they had another car for close up interior shots (not showing Tiff driving or any outside world) & it may not necessarily have been a roc especially with your eagle eyed observation on the dial cowls
they have only just released the MY2011 changes so they are not going to be considering & producing any models with any other revisions just yet, & especially not to give to motoring press

Re: Current Dashboard Spec Cowled Dails or Not?
Thanks Trix
I was just curious because i was sitting in a new unregistered Roc on friday and that didnt have cowled instruments then i see that on fifth gear and wondered if they since updated the dash?
The one Tiff was driving was a 59 plate though and the one i saw on friday newer and not even registered and had the commonplace un-cowled dials so as you say a test model that suposed to be older with a newer dash?
Doesnt make sence

seems it was a shortcut of the motoring press using any old vw they had hanging around to do the close shots & hoping no one would notice the inaccuracies, shame they came across us

I'm sure I've seen a post somewhere (might have been on scirocconet) where someone put the dials from a Golf into a Scirocco. It might be worth having a search for it as the cowls might be available for you to add separately if you prefer them.Joloke wrote:however all the brand new sciroccos ive seen even unregistered ones in dealers showrooms on display have this sort of instrument cluster that doesnt have the cowls

Having looked at it again it's the old-style dials so no good for a new car, but you could probably do something similar with the Golf 6 dials. Looks like it's not cheap just to change some plastic parts though.
