Apple Iphone Software Update- iOS 4.0

Post by mickey.hariparsad »

Hey, has anyone tested the new iphone software update on the ROC. I believe the update was released yesterday. I was wondering if there were any compatibility issues with the head units.

I updated my phone on Friday last week, no problems with connectivity to my Fiscon unit or the head unit.

But the battery life of the phone is much worse :(

Hopefully the iPhone 4 will be better on Thursday.

No issues with the music through the head unit.

Can't comment on Fiscon or anything else.

Got my new iPhone 4 in the post today. Works great with my Fiscon Kit. Handsfree is great and works well with my MDI interface as well.
It even fits into my Brodit 3GS Mount!

Seems to be working fine. I've picked up an iPhone 4 though today so I'll see how that does too.

Just don't hold it whilst making a call, transferring data, etc...

Not encountered any of those issues - nor the "yellow screen" problem reported.

Sometimes I wonder how legit some of these stories are, or if they are simply and purely Apple bashing lol

Yep I read the rumor/scare stories too :p

I personally haven't had any issues, so while that may not be the same for everyone, I am happy :D

Glad to hear it stuaz :D

It's always the same with technology (including non-Apple products), you get a higher proportion of people going online to report problems with their product, compared to those who go online to write about how good and fault-free theirs is.

I may be a bit jealous  Got my 3GS in February (I knew Apple would likely release the 4 this month but I didn't want to wait), so not due an upgrade till next year! Ah well, got the new software at least

Those types of people are always more vocal lol Its like reading the newspaper - you always read about the bad stuff

Yeah new software is pretty kool. Folders and the Safari upgrade were well over due!

Well I appear to be suffering from the signal drop problem. If Apple don't come up with a solution soon I'll be taking it back and exchanging it.

But we probably steer this thread back to the original topic guys. Chat non-specific to the Roc should live in the General forum :)

I have the "Bumper" (Got it free) and that fixes the issue but then I hold my right handed, think holding it in your left hand is the issue or something like that - can always do what Apple suggest "Don't hold your phone that way!" :P

Not sure how they can fix it though - its not software it hardware - can't imagine them doing a mass-recall  Most Phones have some form of signal loss (Especially if you hold them at the bottom - where the majority of the antennas are located).

On Scircco Topic though - the "bumper" case they supply, doesn't fit properly with the cable in the MDI! :(

How bad a fit is the cable into the bumper? The Scirocco cable into my 3G iPhone doesn't fit too well due to the cover I have, but it does fit and with some careful wedging to stop the phone moving about it works okay.

If I hold it - it stays in.But the clips on the cable can't properly...erm..clip on, because the bumper has a bit of plastic layer, which means there is an extra layer of rubber stopping the cable to be nice and flush.

Its hard to explain :( :(

Hey Seacourt - now that it's been a couple of weeks, how's the iPhone4 working out with the Kufatec Fiscon Kit? Wanting to upgrade my old 3G but not if it causes problems with the Roc's handsfree.

Jim
Car ordered 14 June 2009. Confirmed build week 36, slipped to build week 37. Deliver3 October.
