Front fog lights

Post by Hughesy88 »

Hi guys new to the board, just put a deposit down on a scirocco in stock that doesn't come with fog lights. Can they be added later on? The young salesman seemed to think not but I don't see why not?

Please reply asap, thanks all

I don't know but I would have thought that if the wiring loom is in place then it would be possible at a cost greater than the specified price but nothing outrageous. As well as the lights themselves you will probably have to allow for new front bumper housings for them and a replacement main light switch on the dash. May be a relay required as well.

My workmate has a current Passat and he wanted to add front fogs. His wiring loom does not take front fogs. VW use different wiring loom types dependent on equipment specced (not a penny wasted by those efficient Germans at VW). I'm 99.9% sure that you'll have a loom that doesn't take front fogs. New loom is a big job - it'll add hundreds to the cost of the fogs to strip out a large proportion of the car trim to replace the loom.

Why bother with the front fogs? They're nothing more than ornaments - I have legitimately been able to use mine just twice in 13 months of driving the Roc. Having front fogs used to mean you had something sporty or very high spec 10 years ago, but they're on everything now. I wouldn't get hung up about not having them.

People who use their front fogs all the time are a pet hate of mine.

PMSL. I bet your right.
As a side effect of cleaning up the environment we don't seem to get much fog any more, so I don't really know myself.

I was like this when I ordered mine without fogs, but feel better now I seen Trix's Sumatra without them, looks better imo.

The new Scirocco R comes without fogs and thats the top of the range.
