Recall for tailgate struts

Post by Digiman »

Hi, I had my car at my dealer to get my seat cover replaced under warranty. Just as I was leaving the receptionist mentioned that they had just got word of a recall for my car for which she thought tailgate struts. Don't know if its the actual strut or the issue with the rusty bracket/screws.

Just had first service on my car, when I took it in they said that there was a recall for my vehicle involving the tailgate, I had remembered this from the forum. Upon collection they said nothing required doing anyway, slightly confused but not too concerned, my car is a March 09, anyone else had this work done on recall?

I got the recall done when I replaced my UK headlights for continental ones last year.

If I remember correctly it was something to do with corrosion to the surface of the retaining nut.

Probably a bad batch or something like that, nothing to be overly concerned about but does bring into question their quality control, but then again it could also be argued that at least they picked up on it relatively quickly.

Is there anywhere on a UK or German site that we can input our VIM so that we can check whether we are effected by this recall?

Hello all

Regarding this subject i can sy that quality control on the factory that makes the car has nothing to do about it. It was VW lowering production costs on cheap screws. In the end they spend more money recalling the car and assembling new screws
