Centre Console Buttons

Post by SeventySix »

Hello

When I took the Roc for a test drive last week, I noticed that there are - four I think - buttons on the centre console, immediately in front of the gear stick. One button was marked ESP OFF, the other was the ACC and I believe the third was the flat tyre indicator reset button.

Does anyone know which option would use the fourth button?

Cheers

John

Winter Driving mode. It's an option available on the continent in the EOS and Golf. Not sure if it's available in those cars in the UK. It cuts engine power to prevent wheel spin when driving on ice etc. Not sure if its an option on the Scirocco abroad (def. not the UK) but remember the button row is a shared part with other cars.

1.ESP
2.ACC
3.don't know yet :) something regarding the steering maybe
4.disengaging the rear parking sensors(this is not available on the scirocco)
5.it's where the tyre pressure button used to be. It's been moved to the glovebox now, both on the golf and scirocco, hence the free space.

I live on the continent, but never heard of a winter mode button. Maybe in the US.

Well, to sum up and answer to SeventySix...the answer is you don't get anything else on the Scirocco on the centre console except for ESP and ACC, regardless of the continent you live on. Just 2 buttons.
It's the common console used on most of the VW range and for certain models you can have some extra options.
I wrote above what you get on a MK6 Golf in Germany. You could get that winter mode button on the MK5/Eos/older models, but I think it was used only on UK and US spec cars. At least in Germany no one ever heard about it.

The third button on the picture above is for engaging/disengaging the Park Assist, available on the Tiguan and Passat (and the Golf, maybe). It uses sensors and turns the steering wheel to park you in a slot with the driver only needing to brake in case sth goes wrong. I cannot believe it works well but...who knows...

That's it - disengaging the automatic steering of the car in a lateral park. You're right. I remebered now.
There are some youtube clips of how the system works.
Available on the golf, tiguan, passat. Not on a scirocco though
