Advice from current owners please!

Post by ondinescurse »

Hi guys, at long last I am receiving delivery of my 'rocco on Monday. In your experience is there anything I should be asking the dealer in advance i.e. are both USB and ipod cables included, policy on dealer stickers etc?

Also is there anything I should look out for on 1st inspection when delivered?

Any help would be appreciated!!

from previous experiences

get them to double check the euro plates if you asked for them
get the dealer sticker removed, looks pants through glass and screen small enough as it is (i let em put the delear stuff on the plates)
make sure the service book is stamped and dated in manual
check your rear mats are in if you asked for them and stuff like pedals and sils

Before you leave the dealer give your windscreen a wash / wipe - if there's a streak right in your line of sight ask them to sort it!! Bet you're looking forward to it, you'll love it!!!

Check you have a full tank of fuel, anything less get them to write you a voucher that can be redeemed at a petrol station - you have already paid for a full tank.

Make sure the road tax is for 12 months - stranger things have happened.

Both MDI cables (USB and iPod) should be there.

Check you have the space saver tyre along with locking bolt in the boot.

Check the head lining for anything not stuck in properly, I found something close to the roof buttons and asked the guy there to use their proper tool to put it back in place - which they did, dealer was not amused that I picked it out but at the end of the day if I had gone home and attempted to fix it myself and ended up ripping the head liner then what?

Make sure they have set the tyre pressure for you already.

Ask them there and then to do anything such as seat belt bongs, drls off, anti hijack (doors lock automatically when you reach 10mph), I wanted that done so got them to do it there and then.

Ask for some engine oil and screen wash to be thrown in for free.

Thats about it mate, Good Luck

PS the sensor in the middle of the dash towards the windscreen wasn't sitting flush with the rest of the dash, after a few presses by the dealer it went in properly.

In my case full tank of petrol was on the spec paperwork, not sure if its a dealer thing then.

Think it's 1/4 tank as standard.

I had just about a quarter but then the sales guy gave me a £30 slip to hand in at shell down the road when I filled up, maybe it was because I travelled from Scotland to Crewe to pick it up.

I thought a full tank was included in the delivery charges?

If I went to collect a new car and it didn't have a tank of fuel I would not be pleased. I bought my Rocco as an ex demo and still insisted on a full tank.

my last 3 cars have all been Vee Dubs from 3 different dealers, each time only got 1/4 tank of juice. Ranted about it each time but fell on deaf ears. Perhaps thats why I have had 3 cars from 3 different garages, treat me right and I might come back in a year or two and buy again.
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

Mods: Full Milltek, KW lowering springs,Wheel Spacers, Remapped to 258BHP, 405Nm

They only have to supply enough fuel, my dealer tried to get funny about it and I said I would simply buy the car elsewhere and if they want to lose a car sale over £50, then it would just make them look silly :)
Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy :)

A full tank of fuel doesn't come standard with a new car, and never has.You usually have to negotiate for it,usually in the traditional 'mats and flaps' stage of the discussion. It's the norm to only get about a 1/4 tank.
