Is the Sciroco certified for towing?

Post by dabevan »

Is it posible to tow with the Sciroco? ...this breaks down into two questions...

1) Is the Sciroco EU type certified to tow (its based on the Golf V chasis, but I think it still needs separate type approval)
2) Are there any towbar bits avaliable?

Many Thanks.

I have been looking for the same info, tried Brink, York, Witter, Bosal etc and could not find anyone doing one yet.

Thanks, I wonder if the Golf towbars would fit? ...the towbars generally attach to the chasis, and the Scirocco shares its chasis with the Golf V.

It all depends on whether VW had to do a separate certification for the Scirroco and if they bothered?

Cheers.

PS - Just because someone occasionally needs to tow a lightweight trailler (ie motorbikes, jetbikes, hanggliders etc) doesnt mean they won't fully appreciate the car at other times! ;-)

The day I drive past a Scirocco towing a trailer is the day I sell it.

It's bad enough driving my TT and being associated with birds and hairdressers... If I had known the Scirocco comes with a free membership to the Caravan Club maybe I would have had to think again...

http://www.richtersport.co.uk are advertising towbars for the Scirocco. I spoke to Neil (about some other stuff) who was very helpful. Could always give them a call to ask.

the scirocco is not certified for towing & as such you can't get a tow bar to retrofit to it. sorry

i just found this on ebay, i had a mk4 before my scirocco and towed my speed boat arounfthe country and would be great to do the same with my scirocco because the engine power feels like it would be great to tow with !
