Teething Issues
Teething Issues
my wipers have been fine however a mystery white cog has appeared in the foor well that appears to come from the passengers front seat, great as only used twice, they need to tweak the steering wheel as its slightly off and does not cancle the left indicator all the time (thought i'd wait to 1st service but heh ho)
service department really helpful (yeah right) especially when i asked if they could turn off the drls, muted it was a vag-com issue and they had supplied a scirocco recently with em off, on the plus only a weeks wait to get a courtesy car
we'll see what they say

Re: Teathing Issues
Well, The drivers seat jammed folded forwards the day after I picked the car up fortunatly it did this when parked outside my house. After 20 minuets of fiddleing managed to unjam it. Took it to the dealer next day and they jammed it so off I went in a loan car got it back the next day unjammed. Now it is back in for a few days whilst they replace the seat back. So in the 13 days I have had my car it has been in the dealers for 4. Still if this is the worst problem I have with the car then I will be happy. Loving my 1.6 Golf
When I get it back I'll keep an eye open for cogs dropping out!

On the upside they did turn my DRLs off.
Re: Teething Issues
reminds me must clean it before it goes in, its the only car i have owned where the rear wheels get dirtier than the fronts given the blades

Re: Teething Issues
I had a funny thing happen to the windows in the first couple of days of owning.
I managed to open the doors without the windows dropping by 1cm, this mean't i trapped the rubber seal when I closed the doors.
I had to open both windows to reset. luckily this has not happened again.
I have also had the stereo restart once on the way to work, which was a bit strange. And if it happens again, I will book the car in.
I also have the windscreen issue, how much is a replacement VAG blade?

My wheel wasn't centred it went back twice to correct it. Needed adjustment on the spline.andy wrote:my wipers have been fine however a mystery white cog has appeared in the foor well that appears to come from the passengers front seat, great as only used twice, they need to tweak the steering wheel as its slightly off and does not cancle the left indicator all the time (thought i'd wait to 1st service but heh ho)

Re: Teething Issues
My RNS510 rebooted itself the other day. A large pop/bang sound from the speakers then the system rebooted. Will keep an eye on this thread as there may be something sinister with the wiggly amps going on.

Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

Re: Teething Issues
Having had my car for three days the dealer now tells me that they cannot get the seat parts from VW and they can't give them a delivery date the parts have to come from Portugal. So I have got my car back but it is still not fixed.
Off to have a moan at VW customer services. I wounder how much help they will be.

Re: Teething Issues
I've found an issue that’s been bugging me for ages now, when I arrive home, I usually drop the stereos volume to 10 from 20, I put it in reverse and automatically the stereos volume is reduced further, however when it comes back out of the Park mode (i.e. the sensors no longer in use) it jumps back to 20 even though before I stuck it in reverse I had droppred it down to lvl 10.
I understand the fix will require a firmware update for the stereo, just curious if anyone else with Park sensors has experienced this?

Re: Teething Issues
Hello all - this is my first post, and is probably not as concise at it could be!
I picked up my Rising Blue Scirocco in mid-October and I must admit, I think I am in love with it, despite it's problems. On day two it had to be returned to the garage because of "Traction Control Failure" & an "ABS Fault". Guys at the garage were, a you can imagine, very helpful, apologetic and quickly diagnosed a lump of grease on a sensor giving a false reading. Since then I've had a thousand miles of happy motoring - I've toured the country roads of Cornwall and the breathtaking mountains and lochs of Scotland.
Last week the car reported, via the dash "Engine Fault. Workshop!" - the exclamation mark making it all the worse! It also limited itself to 2500 revs, which I can assure you, is not enough!! That got fixed, again with no problems from the dealer who tweaked a throttle valve to rectify the message. Today it's happened again, and is booked in this week for another look.
Anyone else with a tale of woe like mine?! I hoped by posting here my cries would fall on sympathetic ears, as apposed to the gloating I get from my (obviously jealous) friends!

Re: Teething Issues

Whereabouts in Kernow are you - and who is your dealer (they sound OK)? I'm in Helston and cant speak highly enough of the service I have received from Helston VW - my car in this week for them to try and solve the windscreen smear problem which still wont go away, whatever I do. Hopefully they'll sort it else I am considering asking for a new windscreen.

Re: Teething Issues
Thanks Bagwafu,
I'm in Fraddon, near the McDonald's & infamous hamburger hill on the A30. Bought the Scirocco from Carrs, Indian Queens. They've been top notch from the day I strolled into the showroom off the street in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt and asking for a test drive, to keeping me up to date, and dealing with the sensor issue. We had some confusion on hand-over day but hardly worth mentioning.
Since then I've been working in Glasgow so The Verve are looking after me for the 'Engine Fault' problems. Verve came recommended, and first impressions are that they are a good crowd. Seems unfair to have to take it to a dealer other than the one I bought it from, but they're very understanding. All just one of those things I guess.
Are you from Helston then, or some other part of The County?!

Originally Hampshire but Helston on and off last 16 years due to my job in the Navy.
Re: Teething Issues
first visit to the dealer for warranty work was a success, indeed customer service was an par with audi and no return visit, only downside the polo 1.2 match (which has same centre and badge on the steering whell as the roc). dealer has turned of the DRLs (coding issue and no charge), cog was actually traced to glovebox and back in and steering sorted (all be it weird getting used to it being normal). indeed very symapthetic with a issue on the golf and urged us to get it down to the guy who does their warranty claims so can't grumble at the moment

Re: Teething Issues
Picked up the car from the garage on Tuesday, it had been fitted out with a new accelerator pedal unit. Sadly will be returning for a third time this week as the EPC light is back on. Anyone else struggling with the EPC of Death?! Rich
