Humour me, but I have a crazy idea....
My 170GT is due towards the end of March, I bought a GT as I wanted the 170 DSG, I don't want the black headlining, but VW won't fit a silver/grey one for me in the factory.
So I see my choices as:
1. Buy a complete headlining set including A, B and C pillars and lights in silver/grey and get my local bodyshop to fit it, then sell the black headlining on ebay
2. Find someone with a new Scirocco with a silver/grey headlining who wants a black one and get my local bodyshop to swap them over
3. Get used to the very dark cabin (unlikely)
Any other constructive ideas?
Yes, I am nuts, but the interior is soooo much nicer with a light headlining than a black one.

Felt the same way as you've posted about mine all the way through the delivery waiting period. Had the Scirocco 3 months and it's not an issue now. In fact the above idea and feeling about a dark interior I had, went after a couple of days of driving.
So perhaps worth giving it a try first before you commit some expense.
Must admit, the light interior test drive Sciroccos I drove were nice to sit in.

I'm sure i've read somewhere that the black roof lining is only fitted with leather interior, so if you've not ordered leather, you should get the lighter roof lining!!! I may be totally wrong as usual

Not sure now as VW UK keep changing things, but it used to be leather plus the GT models = black.croydonvw wrote:I'm sure i've read somewhere that the black roof lining is only fitted with leather interior, so if you've not ordered leather, you should get the lighter roof lining!!! It should really be a selectable no-cost option at time of ordering

The rule used to be that all leather Sciroccos got the dark headlining, and only the 2.0TSI got it as standard without leather. Maybe thats changed for the 170TDI, not sure, but all the 140TDIs without leather and in GT trim don't have it.

I've got the 2.0TSi GT and it has the black headlining. i dont have leather
i must say, with the black seats and tinted windows it does make the interior very dark but i quite like that.
it's a matter of preference, everyone has little things they like/dislike about their car but at the end of the day you'll still get a very nice car to drive home in.

Black headlining was a major seller for me, definetly one of the deciding factors between the 1.4 and the 2.0. Love how the black makes the interior feel. Can see how some people wouldnt like it though!! Looked into getting a black headlining on a 1.4 and it was a no go from the dealer and no idea who I would have gone to to get it done.

I guess I'm lucky.
In France I got a 1.4 with black everything
i really wouldn't have wanted a cream headlining, all down to personal taste I guess
