life would be much easiler were the switch to the right of the gear stick rather than to the left where it obviously is for LHD cars....

I kind of forget about it to be honest, and just leave it in Normal. The only time is use Comfort is if I have the kids in the back of the car, and they're having a snooze on the way down to see the grandparents.

I rarely use the Sport mode. Don't get me wrong, I want to use it, and I love the added weight to the steering, but I think it's cursed! The moment I get out of the city and on to a decent bit of B-road, I go in to Sport, and within SECONDS I'm stuck behind a tractor/pensioner/caravan/horse etc.!

I'm still waiting on delivery so I've not had chance to test it yet.

I'm curious as to why folk choose comfort on motorways etc, does it makes the seats all squishy and soft and make everybody get out of the fast lane for you ? It's not as though there's much steering to do on the motorways, and they're probably some of the best surfaces we've got over here too.

Heard a rumour mine is on a boat somewhere so it should be playtime soon. Just clocked 84k on my mkV Gti so I'm ready for it.

On my TDI140, the "Sport" mode doesn't seem to change the throttle response at all, but why should it? I think it's daft you get a better throttle response in sport anyway for a Scirocco. Why have the car running at less than it's potential unless you have the sport button pressed? This is a 140 - 210PS car, not some 500PS BMW M5 that "only" has 400PS unless it's in sport mode.

Sport mode to stiffen the suspension and steering is fine, but with relatively little power to play with for a sporty coupe in the first place, why have less than 100% of it available at all times?

The roads are so pot-holed near mine, I wouldn't dare use Sport. Mine stays in normal all the time, unless i'm within a mile of my house, then it gets switched to comfort so that if I do hit one of the 40 odd pot-holes in the last 1/2 mile stretch of my commute, the car won't wreck my back. In North Shields, you don't need a Scirocco, you need a Landrover Defender!

Trix: According to VW it does, well not the strictly ACC as such, selecting Sport on the ACC button does more than just adjust the suspension.
The ACC system can be set to Comfort, Normal or Sport mode, with the dampers automatically adjusting to the cornering load. Select the Sport setting, and the power-steering and throttle response are sharpened even further.

Read more: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews ... z0d9v73KGT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There is no comfort throttle setting, but select sport and the steering (noticeable on mine - heavier) and throttle response (not noticeable on mine) change (supposedly sharper).

Irish versions of the Scirocco sadly don't get ACC, I presume it's because our ridiculous VRT tax would push up the price.

Having driven other cars with this function, I find it really handy to use comfort mode when going over speed bumps and bad roads etc and also great to be able to change the settings for general economy driving and then as most people have said 'fun' mode as required, so you're not always using more petrol than you need.

this poll needs to be adapted for the "R" owners  as the ACC settings are of course slightly different to the normal Rocs with ACC.

R Comfort = Normal on Roc GT.

Had a go in Sport and no way am i driving on these shocking pot holed roads with that setting!

i am in comfort most of the time because there is just no chance to get a good flow of road to drive via sport mode. speed cameras, traffic etc etc, i just can't be arsed.

someone will appear in front of you driving around 25 mph.

so i just put on comfort and relax, eating my breakfast at the same on my way to work.

Old thread I realise, but when I test drove my soon to be received Scirocco R. I found that sport mode made quite a large difference to the throttle response.

This may be more specific to the R perhaps? certainly the steering was noticeably heavier, but It was definitely apparently that in sport mode, the throttle response was immediate, sharp and extremely responsive.

To respond to an earlier comment (Why have the car running at less than it's potential)

well I'd think if just pootling around town, or on the motorway, the last thing you want is a very sharp throttle. It'd make the journey extremely jerky, twitchy etc. I'm much happier having a softer throttle response for daily driving.

Wait it can come out of sport?!

If i cycle through dont notice much difference but going from sport to xomfort car seems sluggish and smoother build up of power, or ,ore refined and less aggressive feeling.
