Will it fit?

I'm taking delivery of a 2.0 TSI GT next Saturday, and now (a bit late!) am wondering if it will fit my garage?
I cannot find dimension including mirrors anywhere - even VW site shows 1810mm excluding mirrors. My garage is just over 2050cms wide at the narrowest point.
Anyone able to help? I haven't purchased the electric folding mirrors option, but can you fold them in manually? If so, once folded in, is the overall width 1810mm??

The dimensions are all in the sales brochure near th ebakc but does not give the folded mirror dimension.

Including mirrors - 2080mm

Folded mirrors shortens by 115mm each side so over all is about 1850mm.

Car width excluding mirror is 1810mm as you say.

So folding the mirrors should squeeze the Scirocco in. Length OK as its a bit longer than I expected at 4256mm.

Thanks Chris - guess I should have ordered the electric folding mirrors option. Will now have to get out every night and fold them in! Hey-ho!

If you think about it, just fold the driver's side by dropping the window and putting your hand round it.
That should let you drive in. 40mm too wide, 115mm to play with leaves 75mm.

What about getting out of the car once its in he garage?
Used to own a calibra for my sins, couldn't open the doors ended up having to push it in and out of the garage!

I was thinking that too, sounds like you'll be climbing out of the boot with that little clearance

Luckily - it is a double garage, and I park on the left so no problem getting out!

Don't forget that the doors are really long. You need quite a bit of width to get in and out too.

Try parking on the right and revesing in. that's what i do. i don't get the folding mirror theory as at some point whether reversing or driving in forwards you will lose the use of the mirror and end up driving blind. I find reversing easier and you can tuck it up nice and tight to the nearside wall if you need the extra space.
It will make your bum twitch the first few times you do it but you soon get used to it.

On this subject. Im going to be putting some carpet on my garage wall so when i open the door it does not scratch. How far from the ground is the doors widest point (i.e. the part that will hit the garage wall first)?

I had the same problem with my Roc and the garage width is roughly the same, I just fold my mirrors in by hand and drive straight in keeping tight to the left. I put a piece of carpet on the wall about 3ft wide and 4ft 6ins high from the floor (just to be on the safe side) for when the drivers door opens, its a tight squeeze getting out but its worth it in the winter, saving you time scraping ice off the windows. I got her indoors to watch me in the first couple of times as i was worried about the wheel arches catching but then you get used to it. As Del Boy says He who dares wins.

When I swapped from my mondeo to the 'roc I thought it would be no worse to fit in the garage (just based on my preconceptions about the size - I didnt look up the measurements or anything ). Boy was I wrong - with mirrors out its a tight old squeeze indeed with the 'roc.

Nice to find someone else who uses their garage too. We're the only people on our road who use the garage for storing cars....
